Before Paris was liberated from the Nazis, Hitler ordered military governor Dietrich von Choltitz to demolish the Eiffel Tower and other major landmarks. He refused this direct order, and surrendered to the Allies instead, saving the tower.

Songwriters Peter Callander and Mitch Murray wrote the song 'Billy, Don't Be a Hero'.

The song was recorded by Paper Lace, (of The Night Chicago Died fame), and went to #1 in the UK in March of 1974.

However, the song went virtually unnoticed in the US, until it was covered by Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods, where it reached #1 in June of 1974 on the US Billboard charts.

So, the same song reached #1, on two different continents, with two different artists, 3 months apart.

Probably nutritious too, I expect. To prevent scurvy during the 19th century, British sailors were issued a daily allowance of citrus, such as lemon, and later switched to lime. But how did "nutrition" become scientific?🤔

Late 18th Century: Scientific analysis of food and nutrients began with the chemical revolution, where chemists experimented with elements and food sources to develop theories of nutrition.

1910s: Modern nutrition science took root as individual micronutrients began to be identified.

1926: The first vitamin, thiamine, was chemically identified.

1932: Vitamin C was identified as a protection against scurvy.

1950s: Degrees in nutritional science were established in the UK, and nutritional science became a separate discipline in Germany.

1985: A comprehensive report by the (U.S.) National Academy of Science - National Research Council recommended that medical schools incorporate nutrition education.

1994: The Nutrition Facts panel began appearing on food packages.
