Who the hell is V2281809000252 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know this is going to happen. You have to enter your phone number at a site and soon you'll be flooded with scam calls. And gradually the call swill drop off. Right now, it's scam season for me. I'm getting 5-9 calls/day. What gets me is the "caller" ID telephone number that pops up on my phone- V228180902522.
The "V" tips you off it's most probably scam call, but what the hell is the number?

From verizon.com

You will see a “[V]” when the caller's telephone provider has confirmed that the call is coming from an authentic telephone number that has not been spoofed. This “[V]” symbol will appear on the phone screen, TV screen, call log or voicemail when you've received a Verified call.

^^ via a quick Google search

This is all I can find... but no one really knows what to do about them but to block. Some people are reporting getting them constantly throughout the day. This is from Verizon.... but "confirmed authentic" doesn't mean it's not spam... just that it's not spoofed. Most probably is indeed spam.
"To help you identify a potentially fraudulent call, we've enhanced our Caller ID feature. You will see a “[V]” when the caller's telephone provider has confirmed that the call is coming from an authentic telephone number that has not been spoofed."

i wouldn't answer it...
i saw a woman put her phone under a pot lid and then bang a spoon really fast over it, lol they never said if it worked

Sorry but I know nothing about these numbers. Luckily I get no crank calls.

I get tons of cold calls too. Good to know that on some cellphone networks, the "V" gives some credence to the caller's actual number. It doesn't work for T-Mobile however. Instead, they show "Scam Likely" below the number which has always been accurate as far as I have experienced. One thing I did learn was to stop answering. I used to answer the phone and then have a lot of fun with the caller.

Some of my best: "Hey do you know how to get blood out of a carpet?", "Oh, do you know VJ?, he called yesterday." Sometimes I let them listen to my Frenchie (dog) snoring. Other times I let them listen to the TV, especially if there was a gun fight or people yelling. More than a few times my family and I, were in tears from laughing. But karma's a b***h. When you answer a cold call, no matter what you say or do, the caller sets your status to "INTERESTED" which encourages others to call you. Ack. I just don't answer anymore.

I put a call blocker on our landline about 2 years ago. If someone calls and doesn't leave a message, and/or we don't recognize the number, I assume that its a spam call, and add the number to the blocked list. We used to get several of these calls per day, but over time I've blocked enough of these calls that we now get maybe 1 every couple of days.

Hahaha..
I got one of these V calls after reading this thread !
Never had one before.
The number was right in my area code. Makes one wonder....
Anyway I did answer to give them a piece of my mind but they hung up...dang!!!!

I never pay attention to the garbage that comes through our landline. For that matter, I never have to pay attention to calls to my cell phone, as spam is automatically marked as such, and deleted. Just for reference- nobody ever calls me anyway...if you love me then text me. ;)
