..and heeeeere they are!

IDK, I sure didn't. I wish I had been young during the 80s, really liked the music and a lot of the social stuff going on then. Why do I often suspect that people had more fun back then?
...because they did. They post war period is usually characterized by historians as America's naïve time. There was an almost giddiness at that time among at least some even though many were struggling with the realities of economic life around them, as has always been the case. In the mainstream, it was a boom time despite the Cold War having us diving under our desks. Why do I often suspect that people had more fun back then?
I agree. Chuck Berry brought rock n roll to the masses. It had been around for 20 years or so, but it was a fringe genre. Chuck Berry gave it the exposure it lacked.Who, in your opinion could be considered the Father of Rock and Roll?
I'm thinking maybe, Chuck Berry, but what is your opinion?
Oh Yes! Eddie Cochran and Duane Eddy! This guy is cruelly overlooked...
everybody thinks this was Elvis' tune. Carl Perkins not only was first to record this "rocka-billy" classic, but he WROTE the song! and it had a killer b-side!As far as mid 1950's musicians/singers are concerned, nobody has mentioned Carl "Blue Suede Shoes" Perkins....

I like the men who write the songs. To be able to both write and perform them is a great talent.everybody thinks this was Elvis' tune. Carl Perkins not only was first to record this "rocka-billy" classic, but he WROTE the song! and it had a killer b-side!
I just knew there was a song in here somewhere...I like the men who write the songs. To be able to both write and perform them is a great talent.
Let's see! "Peggy Sue" was 1957. That was the first record I ever bought!Buddy Holly was pretty early on.
