Whose pictures would you put on your money?

Our money has pictures of Presidents and royalty. That's kind of boring. It's the same old pics, over and over. We need other people to put on our money, and they don't have to be politicians, or heirs to the throne. But, they should somehow symbolize your nation. Since we have all different currencies, who would you put on your 1s, 5s and 10s?

Well we kind of do have or have had heroes and heroines on our money over the centuries.. Shakespeare.. The Artist JW Turner... Florence Nightingale, the engineer James Watt etc.. as well as Royalty...

...so I think I'd like someone like Christian Barnard ( altho' he's South African)

Aw, does it need to be a "person?" I think I'd choose Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy. Can't see why not... it would be a place of honor, and I seriously can't think of any person I'd give that honor to at this moment. 💵

I'd put Bob Dylan on the $5 bill. Cher (a young Cher), goes on the $10 bill. Walter Cronkite gets the $1 bill. The Marx Brothers get the $20 bill. Elvis gets the $50 bill. And lastly, the entire crew of officers of the U.S.S. Enterprise, will be posing on the bridge, on the $100 bill. If they continue to make the silly $2 bill, that will go to Moe, Larry, & Curly.

Good idea--- or maybe even a meaningful symbol of some kind. But of course nobody would be able to agree on what is meaningful enough to put on the bills. Maybe some of our natural wonders like the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, etc. That should be non-controversial.

Sounds good except Dylan's, Cronkite's, the Marx Brothers', Elvis's, and the Enterprise crew's pix should all be when younger also.

@hollydolly, wasn’t Jane Austen supposed to be on one of y’all’s bills at one time?

PS— yay for Florence Nightingale!!

PPS (slightly off subject)— you know you’ve read a lot of Jane Austen when you find yourself passing a required wait time by comparing the different presidents’ cravats on assorted US bills 😉😆🤓

yes she still is... on the £10 note... one side is the Queen and the other is Jane Austen

There were a number of banks issuing banknotes in Scotland, chiefly Bank of Scotland, Royal bank of Scotland and the Clydesdale Bank (now Virgin Money). These generally had pictures of famous Scots such as Sir Walter Scott, Robert Burns, Lord Kelvin, Robert the Bruce etc.. on the obverse. On the reverse were images of iconic Scottish scenes such as the Forth Bridge, The Falkirk wheel, Culzean castle etc.

I don't think there are any current politicians that deserve a place on a Banknote.
