To answer your question, Jim, I don't often post just to post. To echo what some have said above, I've developed an affection and respect for many members here, and enjoy interacting with them. I've learned a lot here and would like to believe that sometimes I've contributed information that others have found valuable.

Visiting this forum is one of my guilty pleasures.

I just joined yesterday but I hope this is a safe place to learn and share with folks going through similar “life” situations, e.g., retirement, being alone in senior years, aging parent(s), health, etc. I try not to look back and dwell on what has passed and cannot be changed but one of my biggest regrets is that I did not nurture and take care of my friendships. Most of the people in my life are related to me and are great but I miss those friendships that opened up my world to more experiences.

I am curious about this site, it a for $PROFIT$ venture or just for the heck of it? Who owns it or maintains? Just wondering.

Do you pay for this forum?.. do we have lots of advertising here?... do you know Matrix real name...that well known entrepreneur and famous guy who boasts of his wealth ? :rolleyes: ...what an unfair assumption about someone who has taken a lot of time and money to put this forum together for all of us..

Never talked about this before. This forum is hosted on a dedicated server along with another website, the ad revenue helps pay the hosting bill but not enough, there are other costs too such as forum software. This forum takes too much of my time, it's a hobby that I can barely afford nowadays. Some forums that sell premium membership, ask for donations, or sell affiliate products, may make small amount of money, I don't know, never tried that.

Thank you Matrix for your reply, you are appreciated for your efforts as this is an enjoyable site. Every man should be rewarded for his work and even his hobbies when he contributes a service that is useful to many. Financial gain is not everything, but is a necessary equation in most situations. I post because there are other seniors to talk to. Interesting subjects to hear about from others. I have also learned something very special here. Many benefits to being on this forum.
 
I have posted on a few forums in the past 20 years, and made long friendships. This is one of the two I've stuck with. The people here are open and friendly. I like many of the topics .. and of course, the games.
