Why do editing options not appear?

Finding this morning that line-editing options (emojis, typeface alterations, etc) don't seem to work. For instance, if I want to underline... can't do. The options along the top are all grey, so not hot options.

Normally, there is an array of options at the top of the post window. So, if you want to underline, you highlight the word or words, then click the appropriate option at the top. You can also click that capital I (letter) at the top, and that italicizes the word, which means pretty much the same things as underlining.

Gee, this morning I'm wondering why my normal options don't appear. I'd like to use the occasional emoji, for instance. Even wondered if I'm in probation for some reason... not sure what that would be, though.

Thanks for the suggestion, Holly. Tried it, didn't change the situation. I'm going to restart my laptop. Maybe it's a problem with my device.

Just a thought... Try a different browser, or clear the cache on your regular one.

I'm using DuckDuckGo, which I like. It's worked for me with SF since I joined the forum. Just restarted the laptop. The options along th top of the posting window are still grey... not available to me. Maybe Admin will clear up the mastery for me. Hope so.

Thanks, Devi & JeeperDon for advising this. I thought I'd done so recently enough, but did it again and now everything is back to normal! Still a mystery why it happened, because this issue has not cropped up previously.

This one [ ] should be clickable, click it to go back to normal input mode. It's a toggle, you must have clicked it by accident.
