For eating or paying so much?Yes - - I lost complete control this afternoon and ate a cheeseburger. The cheese didn't bother me but the burger left me with a dab of guilt.![]()

you are such a jerk....This is a discussion forum and all members are encouraged to participate. But thank you for the heads-up. I will be more careful in the future not to cast my pearls to swine![]()
Heh. Pot.....kettle.....you are such a jerk....
That's why the Jains don't eat root vegetables --the silent screaming when you pull out the whole plant and the death of the plant that results.Vegetables are living matter too. They just don't scream when you stick them.
Yes. I lean toward vegetarianism but still eat fish because it's the one animal I can picture myself killing. My college logic professor would laugh at the way the OP unscientifically, tersely, awkwardly, posed the thread.
All Earth multicellular animal life consumes organic matter nutrients that had previously been alive. Plants, and various unicellular life creates that organic matter from non-organic materials through chemical processes especially photosynthesis.
A more direct question would be the ethics of we out of control, overpopulated, Earth monkeys with economic wealth goals, selling an out of balance range of animal products for food that are destroying the planet. Products most people viscerally enjoy so much they hardly consider the negative effects both to other life on the planet and health of their own bodies. Out of balance nutrition levels alien to how we evolved thus creating many health problems. Global industrial level animal farming that few consumers in this era ever have to actually dispatch and clean themselves versus our ancestors. Thus removing the inherent moral negatives from consumers awareness.
Why I still occasionally catch, kill, clean, and cook fish despite greatly disliking having to kill them because that gives me at least a modest level of awareness in balance of what I am really doing as an entity that requires nutrients.
Bunnies too. I was watching "Wild America" and a raccoon caught a rabbit. What a scream!I'm farm grown. Trust me, cows scream.
and counting...1...2Heh. Pot.....kettle.....![]()
Me too, other than fish and gator I try to eat animals that are vegetarian... no lions or cougars. Did have a bear roast once, it wasn't real good.I lean toward vegetarianism
Kill Bambi before the predators get to him.Me too, other than fish and gator I try to eat animals that are vegetarian... no lions or cougars. Did have a bear roast once, it wasn't real good.
And eating that cheeseburger in the dark can be quite messy. Very wise to "light a candle".I'm more of a believer that it's better to light a candle than it is to curse the darkness.
It's not guilt that gnaws at me. It is anger that I have had to overcome.
I'm doubting this remark was directed to only one individual personI first have to respect someone before their words can hurt me.
So I'm good here.
Well now, you have a real limited view of life! Plants eat creatures also, many examples but the Venus Flytrap comes to mind. And of course, plants and mushrooms/ fungi are living organisms also and you seem to think eating them is ok, right. Logically, this is flawed. Anyone with an understanding for biological science would understand this.... move on please! Goofy discussion...If you live and enjoy a vegetarian lifestyle, great but this thread isn’t
directed towards you. Creatures eating other creatures is a system
that works, no doubt about that but it does seem a bit harsh at times,
when I’ve nothing better to do than to consider idle things. What do
you think? Big fish eats the little fish. Lions eat lambs. People eat
everything. Was this a purposeful plan or does it even bear consi
Not before I say I love Elmo!Yes, let's move on...![]()
Methinks your time would be better spent then, enjoying other threads. Pretend I’m an apple and bite me. Also don’t pretend to know ANYTHING about my views of life, nor anything else for that matter.Well now, you have a real limited view of life! Opinions on this thread by some are considerably affected by a lack of biological, physics, chemistry, science level, understanding of the nature of the broad range of Earth DNA based living organic life. Am certain an overwhelming majority of those few in our society with such an education and knowledge would have no issues with humans consuming reasonable levels of any plants or lower evolved animals. Issues arise when we planet overpopulated Earth monkeys consume so much that such negatively impacts the fragile life and planetary balances as has become evident during my own lifetime. Or arrogantly consume mammal and other species with more evolved nervous systems and brains as is the situation today with massive destructive economic driven corporate animal farming across the planet.
The above noted, within a century if we humans manage to not destroy it all, it is likely DNA and biological sciences will develop massive in vitro meat production from fish to beef type tissues, thus eliminating current live creature processes. In like ways, drugs will no longer be produced in test tubes but rather grown directly from DNA engineered plants and trees. This IMO was the source of the Old Testament Bible Genesis Garden of Eden narrative given to Moses but later incorrectly interpretted by the religions. Such an advanced race of intelligent entities visiting our planet would have established such gardens for a list of valid science reasons both for Earth life research and their own possible biological use. That is probably why Adam and his descendents as "enhanced humans" probably were able to live for many centuries till the days of Noah when their DNA became diffused.
I think that for the most part, you are right, and animals do not eat their own babies, or others of their species. Most of the creatures that do that are probably ones like fish, who do not have an actual maternal instinct, and often birth large amounts of offspring at one time. By catching and eating the slow or sick ones, the other ones have a better chance at life. You're not bursting my bubble......Thank you for correcting my mistake if indeed you did, IDK.
