Why do so many people oppose Covid vaccinations?

We chose to not have the vax
We were teetering on if we should or not
Until our healthy son died within four days of getting the Moderna shot
  • Having friends or family who have had a bad reaction to the vaccine
I'd say that's a pretty bad reaction

  • Complete testing, similar to what has been done for other vaccines was not done, not enough time
That was in our letter to the Moderna folks
Pleading for more testing

Geez, sorry for your loss and for my insensitive post. Too often I’ll just swing away without reading any prior posts as happened this time. Sorry about that too.

Why would I trust Pfizer when they have been proven to put profits over safety in the Bextra case?

What I find curious is that many factions that were always exposing the evils of big corporations, including the pharmaceutical giants, now seem to have complete trust in the big pharma corporations.

Was talked to death on this board during the pandemic.

One of the least discussed issues is that many anti-vaxers are actually needle phobics that will use every other publicly mentioned excuse or criticism not to be stuck before admitting it is simply that they are afraid of being stuck. Same people often never get any injections and especially dread going to dentists. During the pandemic the media was pressured not to mention the issue because it made some phobics even more desperate and resistant lest they be outed. Especially if articles contained pictures of needles.

It’s estimated that fear of needles affects up to 25% of adults, and may lead 16% of people in the US to skip vaccinations. Many people who strongly fear needle sticks may avoid doctors and medical care, so it’s likely that the magnitude of this problem is
underestimated.

Interesting, I had no idea. Don't love needles, but not afraid of em.

Ya think? Thanks for adding something new, that's hard to do.

Our son avoids most vaccinations. Then early before there was the vaccine he caught covid 19. As soon as his age group allowed he got the vaccine, he said "I never want to be that sick again!" He did have a nasty reaction to booster 3, however he was only sick for one day.

I've always kind of liked getting needles, even those one's in the gums at the dentist. I just seem to have a fascination with them for some reason. I never thought that was odd but maybe it is? The only needle I didn't like was one time at the dentist where he had to jam it into the roof of my mouth to work on a front tooth. WOW! Did that ever hurt

No sorries needed @MarkD for 'swinging away'.
No offense taken

We all have our different takes on why

Makes this site so interesting

Well I hadn't realized I couldn't revise or delete it myself so I reported it and asked for help. The good forum brownies granted my wish and erased it. Hopefully I'll be less hasty going forward.

All vaccines have a certain number of bad side effects, which are usually offset by the good effect of getting rid of a killer illness.

About a century ago, the smallpox vaccination was new and scary. I think all Americans were required to get it and have their children vaccinated. My mother told me that her sister lost a perfectly healthy 8-month-old baby girl to that vaccine. She was so depressed and horrified by the vaccine that she refused to have any more children. (Which in those days probably meant the end of intimacy between her and her husband.)

Her husband finally appealed to their rabbi, who came to the house and spoke to her about how she would honor the memory of their lost baby by having more children. He must have been very persuasive, as she went on to have six more children!

To answer the original question, there are probably various reasons, the overwhelming one being politics. So I can't discuss it any further here.
