your right. some believe, some do not.
So be it.
So be it.
This subject seems to keep the boys here happy. The more that this topic drags on, the more I think religion, like politics should not be allowed on SF.
As I see it, some people believe in God. Some people including myself, do not.
The End.

"they're far more judgemental than I."On the other hand, it's a wonderful example of cultural differences.
I have no issue with people who believe in a God. In fact, they're far more judgemental than I.
As an Agnostic I believe that the existence or non existence of God Is beyond my ability to know with any degree of certainty.Yet, belief or unbelief incurs reaction ...................................why so?
Why comment at all...............................why bother?
Why does this post go on???
I am not talking about your particular beliefs.
I was struck by your comment. "as I see it, some people believe in God. Some people including myself, do not"
Respect your opinion, but disagree. So be it.
1). Becasue life is good. Why do we believe in God
What is the evidence that the Hebrew creation story is factual?Yet, belief or unbelief incurs reaction ...................................why so?

What is the evidence that the Hebrew creation story is factual?
Are you aware of the Sumerian creation story?
Forget the existence of God arguments. They are futile. However, we can ask ourselves if the stories are factual or imagined. As an Agnostic I believe that the existence or non existence of God Is beyond my ability to know with any degree of certainty.
We treat our imagination as fact so much of the time. It is not a fool proof way of determining facts. It usually comes down to physical evidence. Science is way to catch God in the act.Forget the existence of God arguments. They are futile. However, we can ask ourselves if the stories are factual or imagined.

Me too.As an Agnostic I believe that the existence or non existence of God Is beyond my ability to know with any degree of certainty.
Why? What purpose does it serve?Forget the existence of God arguments. They are futile. However, we can ask ourselves if the stories are factual or imagined.
Thank you for that question. Hopefully, we can move closer to truth and develop our thinking skills that are essential to thinking about truth.Me too.
Why? What purpose does it serve?
Well written; thank you.I am utterly amazed by the responses. No! not just amazed but staggered by the variety of views and beliefs. I sit here and try to comprehend what I am reading.
All I can say is this.
You were created by God, therefore you are a creation, not a god. You know no more then God intends you to know. Therefore your knowledge is limited by what God has revealed to you. He does not give you more than you can handle because quit frankly you couldn't handle it all.
I can't
Who is God?
He is beyond your understanding!
He is your creator however so you have a connection. Not as an equal but as a child. Therefore you are at a disadvantage in trying to find your way.
Like I said at the beginning I am astonished at the response and emotion shown. Yet it seems to me that those who continue to post either want to prove everyone else wrong or are really looking for answers.
Otherwise leave the post!
Believe what you believe and move on.
I am not trying to evangelize anyone. Believe, don't believe. Your choice.
I believe strongly in my beliefs. Find comfort and only wish to offer that to others.
But I will not back down from voicing my opinion when others do not.
As I said, I am an Agnostic. The major part of Agnosticism is realizing there are no answers available therefore there is no truth to be had.Thank you for that question. Hopefully, we can move closer to truth and develop our thinking skills that are essential to thinking about truth.
I must disagree with you. I think science is doing an excellent job of defining truths that are helpful in understanding reality and making good decisions. I think choosing to ignore archeologists, anthropologists, geologists, and related sciences is ignoring important information. Historians also play a very important part in developing our understanding of how we got here and why.As I said, I am an Agnostic. The major part of Agnosticism is realizing there are no answers available therefore there is no truth to be had.
you have not got a clue as to what is true. Neither do I for that matter, but I believe, as opposed to your disbelief.Forget the existence of God arguments. They are futile. However, we can ask ourselves if the stories are factual or imagined.
Do you think it is possible to experiment with "believing"? Act like you believe, read the bible and study it, go to church and ask questions? IDK, I don't think that would matter. Maybe for some, but for most people what they believe about God is pretty settled, no matter what it is. You can't change someone's belief, they will change it if they want to. I know you believe and for you it is easy, but for many others they need to be left alone to believe what they want.you have not got a clue as to what is true. Neither do I for that matter, but I believe, as opposed to your disbelief.
Science will never provide the answer you are looking for.
Some sense of belief in what you see around you might provide more comfort then waiting for some definitive explanation.
You say the arguments of the existence God are futile. I say that God exist, oversees us everyday and if it weren't for his intervention in the past, we would now be speaking either Japanese or German.
Looking for proof? ask God, in prayer and go about your daily business. He will................get back to you.
You once said you would not reply to my post. I think that is a good idea. I asked you for verifiable evidence of the biblical story of creation being believable and if you have done so please direct me to that explanation. If you have not done so, our communication is ended.you have not got a clue as to what is true. Neither do I for that matter, but I believe, as opposed to your disbelief.
