Big complaint of mine........why doesn't Costco offer a self check out line? One north of me had one, for a short while, but then it disappeared. It was also very well marked for the limit of so many items. Loved it.
I feel sorry for those folks who have perhaps 1-2 items and have to stand in these giant lines with these folks that have their carts filled with tp, paper towels, 90 pack of whatever. I always allow those folks with only 1-2 items get in front of me, they are always so grateful.

I am a frequent Costco customer. Usually, the checkout people are extremely fast and efficient, probably a lot more so than the self-checkers would be. However, I agree that there should be an express line or two for people with very few items. I don't know why they don't have that.

We have a Costco in Adelaide ,they have a suggestion box if you want to see / ask about something different in store , they have never had a self service checkout since opening their first and only store in South Aust 3 years ago ,but I do know how annoying it can be if you only want a couple of items.
I recently put in a suggestion for a stool ,by the shoe section to sit on if you want to try shoes on espically at our ages

I don't like self checkouts and rarely use them. My Costco, even on really busy days have enough cashiers and checkout lines that move pretty fast, so I have no complaints there. I also let someone with a couple of items go in front of me, and folks have done that in the past for me too. They have a lot of self serve checkouts at my Walmart and they seem to move a lot slower than the regular cashiers, looks like there's always someone with a problem either with the machine or their item.

I use the self checkout all the time. I ride a bike and can't carry a lot of items. Just remember to have a bar code on every item.
Fruit also have code stickers.

Those fast service limited items checkout with a cashier? Say 10 items or less?

People ignore them. Signs are for everyone else. And the clerks can't do or say a thing to a customer with a loaded cart.

So I use the self checkout instead.

I like self checkout. Whole Foods doesn't have them, but when I buy non grocery items at Stop and Shop they do and I use them all the time. It saves so much time for me to self checkout.

I was at Costco recently with a full cart. A nice Asian lady with a young child on her hip got behind me. She had a box of cookies. I let her get in front of me. Just as she put the cookies on her checkout belt, her husband pulled up with a flatbed cart full of cigarettes. I was snookered!
