Why I am still using Windows 7

New systems are faster and more secure, but I am so used to Windows 7 and how it works. My desktop is all connected and set up they way I want it. If I get a new system, I'd feel like this girl in the photo trying to set it up.

i don't blame you. i just don't know how your microsoft account isn't forcing the upgrades on you. mine wouldn't let me alone and i even set it to not accept them and it would load it anyway.

I envy you still having Windows 7. I made the mistake of letting my old laptop update and got so frustrated that the newer Windows required a paid subscription to use the previously free old simple games. No more Microsoft for me after that experience.

Of course, business like the Geek Squad and self-employed technicians can come and set thing up, but they charge quite a bit for that service. When I moved, the cable technician set it up in my new house.

Windows 7 still does what I need it for, for the most part, but since Lumosity upgraded their site, the games are laggy for me now. I contacted them about it with my system specs and was is the reply:

I still have some XP laptops, just in case, being a programmer guy.

Joy Systems has good prices on used stuff if you must get a second machine. Local recyclers might also have great prices.

I loved win7. I played a great game, and wrote lots of . Both were lost when I upgraded to win10.

Windows 7 is considered the best and most popular.

After the disappointing Windows Vista, Microsoft went out of their way to give consumers what they wanted.

I ran windows 7 with no updates for many years. I don't believe the security stuff. I think the upgrades are bug fixes and more importantly driver fixes and additions related to new hardware coming out. That's why Windows seems to have everything you need when installing a new hardware in your computer.

I still run Windows XP on a machine I use to run a CNC, little chance of compromising any critical data.

We changed. Even with iPads and iPhones, it wasn’t smooth. Our old Asus computer gave up just as we were doing it.

My computer is great and I really don't want to buy a new computer. If I do it won't be a microsoft product.

No, with such an old system as Windows 7 there won't be the protection that current Windows security software can provide.

I still am online with windows 7 as we text now, but microsoft
took away my word and excel programs, so cannot do much
but surf the net now..however got a laptop with 10 and 11 on
it, plus the office prgram so I can do what i need on it....

One of my biggest peeves with Windows is the way each new addition makes my old standby software, even Microsoft software, unusable, while it so "thoughtfully" offers new solutions that I must pay extra for. My biggest disappointment was when the first Far Cry game (possibly tied with my all time favorite, The Last of Us), was no longer able to play on Windows. I did find a work around that allowed it to play, but the work around disabled important parts of windows that required geeky repairs once I had my fill of Far Cry. With further editions of Windows, even the work around was not usable. That game was from 30 years ago, and I still wish I could play it today.

I hate Microsoft. Fortunately, there are other alternatives, so I can just tell Microsoft to F### Off, and ignore it. That solves my hate issue, but I'll never forget how underhanded its business model is.

In have Microsoft Security Essentials and I update the defs every day. There's also SpywareBlaster and CCleaner.
