Why Kill This Tiger?

An eight-year-old Malayan tiger in a Naples, Florida zoo was shot to death after grabbing the arm of a cleaner and dragging it into the tiger's enclosure Wednesday evening, the zoo says. The man, who is in his twenties, was airlifted to a hospital and was in serious condition, reports CBS Fort Meyers, Florida affiliate WINK-TV. The Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens says it was closed for the day when the man, who works for a third-party cleaning service, "entered an unauthorized area near a tiger that was inside its enclosure. The cleaning company is responsible for cleaning restrooms and the gift shop, not the animal enclosures." According to the zoo, the man was either petting or feeding the tiger, named Eko, "both of which are unauthorized and dangerous activities."

Killing the animal for being an animal is a crime in my book.

I was crushed. Hope that dumb Human is prosecuted or fined, or Anything! Spurned by all people, receives the Mark of Cain! Don't socialize with this guy--his stupidity & cruelty might be catching. And taser? Great idea @Pappy

I don't know how you can "request " a tiger to stop gnawing on your arm, so I can somewhat understand killing it. But I think the dumb ass tiger treat should go to jail for causing the death of a perfectly good tiger.
Being facetious you can do most anything!

This rare tiger was one of 300 remaining in the world. Tranquilize it.
In the time it would take to get a tranquilizer gun, prepare the syringe & the dart, there wouldn't be much left of the guy to save.
Yeah, that's true. I'm sure the zoo would have preferred to tranquilize, but it would have taken much too long.

Zoos and sanctuaries are required by law to euthanize animals that attack people even when people are stupid.

There's a lady in Australia who rescues bats, and if a lay-person tries to help her and gets scratched or bitten in the process, by law the bat must be euthanized whether it tests positive for disease or not.

Horrible for both the tiger and the person. However, I put human life over animal. How did animals become so glorified that they top the sacredness of human life? Does not make sense to me. No matter how stupid a human life is, it is still precious to God in my opinion.

Many years ago I took my son to the "Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens." A sad, depressing place. Public zoos are bad enough but private zoos -- with rare/endangered animals on display -- are a really bad idea.

In and around Naples you can see incredible wildlife in the wild, ranging from alligators, panthers and deer on land to dolphins, manatees and turtles in the Gulf. And amazing birds. Why go to a badly kept zoo?

Your God made tigers too.

Yes. but don't people come first? Shouldn't they? I love animals especially my dogs and cats but if they attacked a friend or guest viciously, I would do what ever was necessary to help the people. Tigers are wild animals and people do not respect that aspect of life. The get them as pets put them in cages and people think "oh how cute." They have no respect for them. Doesn't mean people should die because of their stupidity.

To be honest some people are more valuable than others. My point is killing the precious animal could have been avoided.
