Why people can stare at fire for hours?

Fire and Ice
BY ROBERT FROST

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

I think I know why men can just sit around a fire for hours, staring at the flames. What’s your theory?
Well, in the movies, they have a beer while out camping or fishing and telling stories and jokes. Relaxing, nor worries, and it's warm by the fire. In the home at the fireplace, it adds a warmth to the spirit. Crackling and warm friends love gathering around it.

I think men find a sense of freedom in staring at a fire for hours. I can
say that so do I. Be it an indoor fireplace or outdoor fire pit with flames,
it is something that I can get lost in so to say, as I think over a wide range
of things, and just stare into what I call the beauty of the fire..

Yes, not necessarily gender specific but…..I think it’s trapped in our DNA still. A protective device, social gathering perhaps and relaxing. Oh yeah, warm too. Duh.

Another thing is that it is dangerous. We would burn off our old gardens and sometimes light an old huge tree on fire. We have known forever that it can hurt you, BAD. So if it is contained somehow, like in a fire pit or fireplace. We watch it and are mesmerized by it's power to stay warm and cozy, but not too warm.
