Why people laugh less these days

It’s hard to laugh when living in physical pain. Haven’t been laughing enough lately. I hope to start guffawing again soon.

I watch the news too often to be laughing. I need to get away from the tv more now that summer is coming!

So many of us have pain that is constant and won’t go away.
I can’t stand without my walker .. and eyesight is marginal, but I still know how to laugh and find happiness in everyday life.
I just don’t feel there is any other choice.

Cultural norm shifts. I used to really like TV sit-coms when I was a kid. Now watching in re-runs, they just seem inane and pointless. If I laugh at something when with other people, they look at me like I am crazy. I can't remember a funeral I've attended where anyone was overtly crying or showing signs of mourning. Don't show any emotion. We are becoming a society of Mr. Spocks.

I think reruns are a dead end for humor. If you already know what’s coming it can’t surprise you. Same goes for movies we recall as being funny.

I’m not someone who can recall a joke well enough to tell it. So for me a retread joke might just get traction.

I usually watch the opening monologues from Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel on YouTube, and they can be pretty funny. Their shows are the ones doing cutting edge comedy these days. Remember when SNL used to do that? Not any more.

Ditto! I need to laugh often. Lucky for me , my husband is a VERY funny guy.
As is mine. He finds me quite amusing, as well. Laughter has been a bedrock of our relationship.

Genuine laughing out loud is still a big part of my life. Numerous times a day. Even more when my kids or grands are here or I'm zooming with far flung friends.
It's not that hard to laugh more, just turn off the news, don't push your news reports on the web, quit changing every thread into world, war and political comments and enjoy the people we have here. There is still so much in life than that. Limit yourself for times to be World Updated.
Agreed. I deal with news for no more than 30 minutes per day, often far less. I quite intentionally filter it out and refuse to let Washington's daily antics ruin my day or my life.

I havent noticed people laughing less

some moments in life are serious of course but there seems just as much lightheartedness and enjoyability and laughter as ever.
