Why This Hurricane Season Could Be The Worst Ever

Recall Katrina when thousands were packed in to the New Orleans football arena? Imagine a repeat of that with the Covid-19. Not only the arena disaster but thousands packed in to various shelters depending on first responders for help. This is predicted to be an active season but that has been predicted for the past two years. We truly do not need more bad news.

Somebody predicts it every year. It's a headline grabber.

To me, the point here,
is that any of the common disasters of various types, such as the dam breaches with massive flooding, that are going on now, up North,
and the potential yearly things such as hurricanes, in the South,

when they happen while the virus is still very contagious,
it presents even double and additional difficulties, regarding rescues, and evacuations, as well as with people going to stay in others' homes and in community emergency shelters, then full of evacuees and helpers.

Read this headline about a month ago, I can only hope for the best. Also, since I live in a state that is hit with the most hurricanes I pray that their predictions will be waaay off this season! I did get all the trees on my property trimmed a month ago, just in case. You can only do what you can do....the rest is up to Mother Nature.

Rather than panic or fear, or meaning to incite alarm of any kind,

I think it is valid to adjust whatever the usual planning is, that is normally done yearly,
in areas where natural problems usually occur,
adjust the plans, in order to take into account the way this particular year has added complications, due to the virus.

That would be common sense , and would be helpful, productive and positive, not meant to paralyze anyone with dread, but the opposite.

Having a plan in place, for emergencies, tht could address contingencies, often saves lives.
When I was working in hospitals and schools, our planning ahead for events that hopefully would not occur, was good planning, that helped everyone to know what to do, in anything similar that occurred.

I would think that there could be some prior planning done, that would help services be better,
in the possibility or likelihood,
tht the virus will still be around, when the upcoming times come, when emergeny shelters are very often needed and utilized.

We don't want more people harmed than necessary, by total lack of planning,
or to have people putting themselves at worse danger, due to valid fears of the serious illness, if they were to need to be evacuated, in any hurricane, which often occurs sometime in Late summer or early Autumn.

Most of us who chose to live in a hurricane prone area do not fear the storms but we do respect them. There is plenty of warning. Smart people listen and do what is necessary to ensure their own safety. Dumb ones do not.

At least with hurricanes, most people have several days warning to get prepared...unlike here in the Midwest, where a tornado can strike with only minutes of warning...at best. Paying close attention to the weather reports and forecasts is a Must.

In my lifetime, I have lived through multiple 500year floods, earthquakes, wind storms, eruptions, ĺandslides, and political conventions just to name a few disasters.

My conclusion is that no expert really knows what they are talking about, no political critter knows anything except how to steal, and if you live long enough bad stuff will happen.

My conclusion is that plenty of very smart people work the problems, some leaders desperately want to make things better for others, and if you live long enough a lot of good stuff will happen.

Never have I heard a hurricane season prediction saying "it will be the worst ever." What they have said is something along the lines of "It may be' or "This could be a very active season". No meteorologist in their right mind would guarantee a prediction and if they did they could be fired.

Again, I will just add my note here, on this topic;
What I think would make the upcoming hurricane season, worse, or even possibly "the worst" ,,,

is the combination of a serious hurricane with an ongoing epidemic,
together causing numerous additional difficulties and tragedies.....
including an outbreak of illness and deaths, at emergency shelters..... and amongst people who needed to go to other peoples homes (relatives or friends) to stay when evacuated...and those who didn't evacuate when actually needed, due to virus fears.... and contagion risks.

I think it is valid to take note, of the increased and different challenges,
that the upcoming season might present, in order to have some ideas at the ready, to attempt to mitigate those possible scenarios.
