Why was it decided to give February just 28 days when lots of other months have 31 days?

Our calendar throws in an extra day in February for leap year, so maybe there are only 28 days to leave room for it?

Not really because the February birthdays would be shifted to either the preceding or following month!

So, soon after Christmas or shortly before Easter. Well thanks for that dilemma.
