Was told by my doc several years ago to not get them too early because you want them to carry over into the new year...we'll get ours like we always do the week of Halloween.
Don't know if I should bother. Live alone & have no visitors, but occasionally one of my daughters, who takes care of my needs, comes and takes care of what my essenntial tremor shaking prevents me from accomplishing. In other words, I have very little exposure to the flu virus.
I will get mine Monday. My doc convinced me to get it yearly, several years ago. I haven't had the flu since. All my life, I got the flu at least once a year, up until I had my first flu shot.
Although I get the flu shot every year, I had a really bad case of it this year. Must have been a different strain than covered by the shot. My family got it too, it was horrible. Will get the shot this year, in October
I have a date with my doc in October, so I'll get my flu shot then. Some get all bent out of shape over flu shots. I think I side with scientists and true data.
Hubby gets them every year. I haven't had one for last several years & haven't decided whether to or not this year. Like some others here, the shot is always not until October so it lasts the entire season.
I know my one SIL hasn't had one in many years & still refuses because after the two times she did, she came down with bad flu right after.
I probably will along with the covid shot. I already got my second pneumonia in a year for those with serious illnesses, and a RSV shot, too a few weeks ago.
I try to wait until October to get the flu shot because I had a doctor once that recommended getting it later in the fall so it would still be going strong during peak flu season.
One of my cousins died from the flu. She was only 39 and the flu caused her liver to stop functioning and she died within 4 days. It was such a shock.
My grandfather died from complications of the flu. He took the shot a few years earlier and claimed it gave him the flu. Wouldn’t get another one. Ironic.
