With Covid continuing to linger, and changing I had my 4th booster yesterday.

I have had my flu but not my covid. I got the flu at the doctor but they stopped giving the covid. They said most patients were getting them done at the pharmacy anyway. The storage of the covid vaccine requires special handling. The were just not using enough doses now to keep it on hand.

I will get mine at CVS.

Sounds like they were using the multi dose vials. I got mine done at Walmart. They have individual vials.

I had this year's shot about 3 weeks ago along with the flu shot. Only mild arm soreness. However, 6 days ago I got sick and tested positive for Covid for the first time. Honestly, it wasn't any worse than the annual cold that I usually get, and today I'm back to about 95% and just waiting to get those two negative tests. Still positive this morning, but it didn't register nearly as fast as the previous tests, so I assume the little bugger is getting flushed out of the system.

The timing was terrible though. The Mrs. flew out today for a convention - so we have been hard isolated from each other at opposite ends of the house since I first tested positive. Too much money sunk into this trip to risk her getting sick too.

Did the shot help? Who knows, but thankfully I didn't have any major complications.

Am I understanding this correctly? You got another covid shot 3 weeks ago and tested positive for covid 6 days ago and you don't know whether the shot helped or not?

I am glad for you as essentially I am all for vaccination as being the best and ideal way forward. However, I dare not have my fifth because I reacted so badly to the fourth.
My previous shots I took with no problems afterwards, but the fourth gave me a bad reaction which lasted with a fever for two days. My first was Johnson & Johnson, second and third were Moderna, and last was Pfizer. So you might check to see if your fourth also was different than the previous. If so, then avoid that maker and use a boost made by the ones which you got no reaction from. Be well and be healthy.

I have been with Kaiser Permanente as my health provider for many years both before going on Medicare and afterwards. This care organization is known for keeping patients healthy with much testing and vigilance in keeping vaccinations up to date. But, this year there's been a change.

I tried to get my covid vaccination from my local CVS pharmacy because it was always just as free as at Kaiser and the CVS is closer to where I live. But, this year CVS informed me I had to go to Kaiser for the booster. But, Kaiser would not give me an appointment for the shot until after Christmas.

That seemed way too late since it would be after all the social events of the holiday season and attendance at these would certainly expose me to infection. So, I got my vaccination at CVS and paid for it this year. Though it was over $100.00 which is steep for my finances I decided my health was worth paying that price. Kaiser's behavior was baffling and very different than in the past. But, I know it is better to follow your own judgement than depending on others' judgement.

Chic, the Covid shot does not give you total immunity from the disease. Most people I know, including myself, have been fully immunized, and have also tested positive at least once. But it was a very mild illness, not even as bad as the average cold.

The vaccine does not totally protect you from the virus. But it usually protects you from dying from it.

Yesterday I got both a flu and covid shot. The last covid shot that I received made me sick, that was moderna. Here they are giving out the updated moderna to cover the new strain, I opted for pfizer. I am not up to date with all my covid shots but seeing just how many people in my area have had covid in the past couple of months, I am hoping this helps. Both arms very sore, not feeling so great today.
Our local hospital has an outbreak, their last one was in August.

I've mentioned this before, but I caught the very first strain of Covid before vaccines were even available. I was returning from business in Seattle before anyone was aware of Covid, my flight was canceled and I was in a line with 160 coughing, sneezing people waiting to be re-accommodated.

The symptoms were horrible. Headaches, fever and chest congestion that didn't go away for months. I've had all the vaccines and I've tested positive twice again for Covid and never had any symptoms. (I had to test because the cruise lines we sailed on a couple of years ago required negative Covid results.) I never had anything but a sore arm after the first three Moderna vaccines, but after this fourth booster I had a mild fever and was tired.

We recently traveled to Europe where everyone in enclosed spaces was coughing and sneezing. I'm sure I must have caught Covid again, but I only had a sore throat for a few days. I don't expect never to catch Covid after having the vaccine, but from my experience when I have caught it the symptoms have been mild.

That is ridiculous. I'm with United Healthcare and my pharmacy is in Albertsons. I simply made an appointment with their pharmacy and got the booster. I can't believe your insurance company is putting you through this.

Covid takes 12 - 14 days to show up after exposure so she could've already been exposed when she got the vaccine. It's happened to others I know.

My wife has had 3 boosters. This morning at about 3 a.m. she woke up sick. She was hacking and coughing with
gobs of stuff being coughed up. We checked her for COVID and the test showed 2 pink lines. She has COVID. The daughter just took her down to the doctor who will see her in the parking lot. They are really checking Covid patients in the parking lot.

I kind of have to laugh a little at the doctor. The last time when I had COVID and he checked me in the parking lot, he came outside with this green hazmat suit (it looks like a hazmat suit) on and his head is covered and he also has a mask on. I was joking with him and I asked him, “Is that really you inside there?” He didn’t think it was funny.

Unfortunately, those on a crusade against certain actions (In this case - vaccinations) will grasp at any straw (whether merited or not) that will support their crusade. The world become rife with them during the pandemic. It seemed to bring out the worst in people. I don't pay any attention to them. I pay attention to the medical people.

Kaiser gave me the shot for free on Sept 28. They didn't have the vaccines until a couple of weeks after some other pharmacies, but once KP got them, they offered them to their members for free. No appointment, necessary. Just showed up where they were doing the vaxxing.

they just keep asking questions and poking around trying to convince people of the conspiracy crap. either that or their doubting their own belief system because so and so had the vax and got it anyway and hasn't developed the dna of a frog.
