Without the mention of any humans, any departed souls, any pets, what make you the happiest?

It used to be without a doubt living in the forest and my garden. Now five years later, with no forest or garden I have tried to change what brings me the most happiness. My mobility chair makes me happy when I can go to the store or the parks on it. The independence of it compared to not being able to walk that far on my own. I love the outdoors, the fresh air when I first open the door to go outside regardless of it being hot or cold refreshes me instantly. Makes me happy.

Being out on a lovely warm sunny day. Since I live urban, there are no nature walks. I'd be satisfied with a good book read in the sun. And of course, delicious foods & beverages, need my coffee! My taste testers are working overtime lately; food can be orgasmic. I don't do much these days, but I breathe in and hold the few wonders I can enjoy.

Things that make me happiest... okay, let me think.
1. Realizing the day is going wonderfully and there's nothing to stress about
2. The huge vintage/antique mall near me... it's three floors of *total* nostalgia and I can spend hours in there
3. Finding a rebate check or personal letter in the mailbox instead of the endless parade of bills
4. Coming to the forum and seeing that someone gave a response that makes me think "wow, me too!"
5. Opening the back door and taking a huge whiff of delightfully fresh and crisp/clean air.
6. A road trip... short or long and to anywhere at all.
7. The arrival of fall. Love it!

Given so many people say that what makes them happiest is mother nature.. and walking in the countryside. I consider myself fortunate to live here.. instead of an urban area.. but what makes me happiest is a new Book.. the smell and feel of a new Hardback.. and the anticipation of the read ahead..

I love to take photos.. that makes me very happy..

I love to be Abroad...

.. and I love to meet up with friends for coffee, or lunch.. that always energises me like nothing else..

Now there's something I miss, I'll admit. I read a *lot* but it's been e-books for a few years now. I buy 8 to 10 books a month but not a paper version for a long time now. I will walk into a book store just to smell it, though... to experience the ambience. Yes, that probably means I'm strange... I'm okay with that. 🙃 I've enjoyed seeing the pictures you've taken, @hollydolly. ... you're very good with photography.

Thanks Kate, you're very kind... :giggle:...I tell you what I used to love which I bemoan the loss of.. and that's Libraries. Not libraries as they are today, with few books and noisy clatter of a dozens of Laptops used by the public and students, and children running around screaming.. and people talking loudly.. but Old libraries where everything was silent, where it was a haven of peace, and the smell of old books... such a sad loss..

Is this your own property??? It is SO gorgeous! Like a setting in a movie.

Thank you, it is my collaboration with nature. But I find I still need to spend time where plants have decided for themselves where to grow and pathways evolve communally with every creature that visits or lives there determining their course.

I have posted other photos and videos in a diary thread here.

Is it a "thing", a 'feeling" an "activity"; what in your life makes you happy?

So what about you, Gaer, what floats your boat?

As to your fine-print question, more and more it seems there are no ‘things’, just processes so I guess “activities” fit best for my current frame of mind. Activities often come with feelings, including more or less happiness.

Which activities?

In reply to Mark, "What floats my boat?"

Quantum theology/ the soul/ spirituality. I want to learn as much
as I can about this! My only goal is to lift my
perceptions to finer and finer levels and to evolve my soul to God
consciousness. This is not imaginary or "mood making" because I've
already felt glimpses of this blissfulness.
Not a "theory". This is a "knowledge". a growing to pure love.
I find joy in creating, designing, bronze sculpting, painting and
my writings, poetry, but the expansion of happiness, unbounded
awareness; this is my purpose!
I'm honored to see and communicate with Holy Angels during my
whole life. Words are boundaries. Words can't explain this.

- daily 2 mile walk (without Flash I would NOT walk daily)
- a fridge full of left overs (aka ready made meals!)
- love where I live
- knowing my sons and daughter are doing well
