Woman & Family Living In Her Car For Seven Months-But....

Apropos of nothing, I seem to recall that the people of Houston distinguished themselves by their compassionate response to the victims of Hurricane Katrina back in 2005.

So sad that you fail to see the big picture.

The poor woman, that's all she has is her two children and two dogs... nothing more. That is her family... her whole world... her life. It breaks my heart to the point of me not even wanting to think about it.

FM, please accept these glasses from me account your short-sightedness.

Here in Britain, someone had the great idea of turning shipping containers into accommodation for homeless families. Sounds weird but they actually look quite reasonable and at least, they do have a roof over their heads.

Shipping container living structures are fairly big over here. Some people turn them into some fairly amazing living spaces.

Homeless families are pretty rare. The sad fact is that most homeless people have drug and alcohol problems, often in combination with mental illness. They need intervention and treatment first.

Affordable housing is a different issue and there are lots of creative people working on new approaches. Very few people, however (including the most vocal "progressives") want affordable housing built anywhere near where they themselves live. And states like New York and California make it almost impossible, via permitting and other restrictions, to build any kind of new housing.
