Woman scares off crocodile with flip-flop in Australia

This time of year is very dangerous for crocs in the Top End. It is nearing the end of The Dry Season and the waterways are drying up. This means that all of the fish, water birds and crocodiles are being concentrated into the remaining water holes and the crocs are very testy. Tourists love this time of year because you can take a boat ride and watch the big man eaters leap out of the water to snag a chicken o a fishing line. However, it is not advisable to be anywhere near the water's edge.

This is another story about a different type of crocodile, the freshwater species. These are smaller, fish eating reptiles and people are inclined to think that they aren't dangerous. Some people are happy to swim in their waterholes but even a small, fish eating croc can be dangerous.

Oh my. Why would anyone swim in an area where they are known to be?

Probably neither, Oakapple. She is an indigenous woman who is probably from that area.
She is less frightened than others because she is familiar with crocs.
