Women, do you find clothes shopping difficult these days?

I hardly go clothes shopping anymore. Clothing manufacturers must think no women are over size 6. And all those itchy synthetic fabrics. I also find the low-cut tops not to my taste. Pretty soon my old clothes will wear out - then what will I do?

I don't agree, sorry. Shop in the Women's Dept for bigger sizes, spend more money for good, natural fabrics. What you want is out there, but maybe not in the stores you've been looking in.

I don't agree, either. I buy fairly basic items from brands I know. Since I no longer work I buy more casual clothing which is easy to find, at least in my area. I also shop online for brands I like (Eddie Bauer, Land's End, J Jill, Chico's, etc.)

Totally agree, and I don't know about the USA but even in the supermarkets here most of the clothing is geared towards middle aged women, not youngsters, and some of it is really good quality too, so often it's not really always necessary to go shopping specifically to womens' clothing stores..

I am going to the thrift shops now. The online clothes can't be tried on and on some sites are from other countries so I can't trust the sizes.

Actually, I find it simpler now. I bought a bolt of black flannel on sale and made multiple pajama pants. That's what I wear around home, with big t-shirts.

I buy online from companies like LLBean and Lands End. I know my sizes on those sites and I know what to buy from them. All of my clothing choices are geared toward comfort.

If I have to get dressed up for an occasion, I've kept a small wardrobe to choose from. I live in a very casual city, so I don't run out and buy something I won't ever wear again.

L.L. Bean has some really nice clothes in natural breathable fabrics. You pay for value but their clothing lasts for decades. And they have a terrific range of sizes and never anything low cut at all. Give it a shot.

LLBean shares my love for elastic waistlines. Their cottons are really tough but comfortable, and all of their linen clothes look great, are well-made and durable.

I can usually find something I like but the problem are the sizes. Right now I have 3 sizes in my closet and they all fit which means everything needs to be tried on and I noticed in the cheaper stores even the same item in the same size fits differently. I don't buy much these days and prefer thrift shops. I have such a problem with the heat I can't stand long sleeves. If I get a blouse from the thrift shop and make a mess whacking off the sleeves it really doesn't matter much.

I also love L.L. Bean. Their fabrics are the best, and the sizes are what you expect them to be. I buy from them online all the time.

Never been one for a lot of clothes. I go for comfort, not style. It helps that in my jobs I have never had to dress up. Just casual. Walmart tends to be my store of choice for what I like to wear. Slacks, and tops, pretty much. Last dress I wore was 16 years ago...at my own wedding.

Since I retired, I have lost weight (not sitting behind a desk all day), and many of my clothes are too "baggy" now. I love the Sonoma Brand "Goods for Life" pants and tee's sold at Kohls. So comfy and do not shrink.

Your stores sound like mine. The last several times I've been shopping for clothes, they didn't have anything I liked. I talked with a friend of mine and she said the same thing. Both of us have been shopping in the stores for clothes and didn't see anything we would take even if they gave them to us. I get online and see plenty there so that's what I have started doing now when I need more clothes.
