Word of the Day - Flabbergast

Such a funny-sounding word, to me,
and one that I fondly remember having been used by the people I knew, decades ago.☺️

I guess they often felt flabbergasted, 😳🤨😣😫🤯
and it was by fairly common daily occurences, that would likely not be considered at all shocking,
by people today! 😄😁☺️😃

Recent outrageous treatment of flight attendants leaves other passengers flabbergasted while they reach for their cell phones to document the incidents.
So then, long ago, when people didn't know what to do, when they saw something and felt flabbergasted,
they simply stood and stared, or they ran away or looked away, not to get involved, or they did take action to get themselves right involved....

But nowadays it seems, ;)

that when people are suddenly witness to something unexpected and possibly disastrous (or not )

they immediately all take out their cell phones, and start recording!
For what purpose? They usually don't know and will decide later, but they don't want to have missed it!!!!!😄

To respond to your question, witnesses now try to memorialize the event on their cell phones to provide an objective accounting of the event happening before their eyes. As shown on some of these videos, other passengers often do step in, but the bullies involved usually on a roll and not easily dissuaded.
