Words of Wisdom

'Folks…everwhere, are doin’ best they can….with what they got'

(this consideration has helped me in most societal situations)

Some are very committed to their beliefs
Some aren’t
But should be
....committed

I’m a very serious thinker
In a funny way
Some folks puzzle over this
I consider them acquaintances
Not my friends
Not my enemies
Just acquaintances

Enemies?
Those that hurt small things, defenseless beings and such

I am their enemy
and they, mine

the rest are 'doin' the best they can with what they got'

they are friends in the making

I always liked something my husband learned when he was in High School. His teacher told him "The greatest gift a man can give to his children is to Love their Mother." He has lived our whole marriage following that advice.

"Watch what you say in public today." Also, "Watch what you say in a thread/reply on any forum."

I now definitely try to follow this advice.

I might have already written this one here, but it's my favorite:

"Don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened." - Dr. Seuss

And one that makes me smile when I find myself in a new situation:

"Stop as far back from an edge as you are tall. (a version of "look before you leap", but with his customary Scottish wit) - Dad

Figures don't lie, but liars figure. This was driven home for me by an instructor in a graduate Finance class. She gave an amazing lecture on why one should NEVER, EVER trust graphs or statistics presented in the news media.
