Would anyone like a poetry thread?

For those among us who are poets, myself included, I thought a poetry thread might be fun. Here is one of mine.

You.

I see you,
Cheek to tired earth,
Roaring the grass
From it's delicate dream,
Burnt with dew,
Shivered inside a naked song.
Love beyond breath
In the passionate silence.

Butterflies

Cocooned in your compassion
I sleep,
Bound to the hands that hold.
I wait, fluttering,
Virtually protected
From the empathy that kills,
Pressed to a silk heart
Until my wings unfold,
Unravelling the fear.

I got up this morning and left my nice warm bed.

then went to the window to view my lovely homestead.
It was then that I spied a pretty little bird with a bright yellow bill.
I beckoned it to come sit on the window sill.
I offered and it accepted a humble crust of bread
then slammed the window and crushed it's little head

Don't let the boys play, Shalimar!

I say, Lon
It's not on
To make fun of poetry-writing
Go take your toys
And play with the other boys
And leave us girls delighting
In pretty poetry.

There's room for all on a poetry thread
Lon who crushed a little birds head,
the broken hearted and their pain
those who have found love again,
we all have a tale to tell
some of heaven, some of hell,
so get out your pens and write a verse
you may even want to include a curse
make us laugh or make us cry
you won't know if you don't try .....

Lon, appreciated your little bit of humor. Nice interlude to clear my mental palate....in between the beautiful, yet very emotional moving, poetry of others.

I'm enjoying reading everyone's posts...very beautiful Shali:love_heart: Sadly, I write very well but have always been stumped at poetry. The only poetry I really understood was Gwendolyn Brooks...oh and Walt Whitman was awesome.

I'll give it a go Shali.

Deep into the canopy
Light streams guide the way
Sounds of unseen creatures intrigue
Scampering through fallen leaves
Songbird speaks to me from high
Searching, I see not him or sky
Embraced by earth and pulse of life
Nature is my companion
Never alone and always at peace
I walk deeper and deeper within
