Would you date a killer? What if he was acquitted?

. Zimmerman did slay someone. Whether you agree with it or not, he was acquitted. So, I guess he has a right to get on an internet dating site. I can understand his use of an alias. His name alone would attract anti-NRA nuts. I'm not sure he should have been kicked off those sites, due to his acquittal. It seems we can't make up our minds as to what is "good" when it comes to guns and the use of them.

BTW, didn't both the Menendez brothers get married in jail?

Both Menendez brothers did get married while in lockup. So did the Hillside Strangler and the Night Stalker. It seems that the most famous killers attract these women. Charles Manson even had a girlfriend turned fiancé.

If a person kills someone defending themself, that act is a socially accepted reason of taking a life. However, some people believe that once someone kills, the next one becomes easier and it’s because of that, other people will sometimes avoid any unnecessary contact with that person. I disagree with that theory. I killed in Vietnam, but have zero desire to kill again, although in my job, I have had to make that choice.

I read that Ted Bundy got lots of fan mail from women, including marriage proposals. I will never understand that.
Ted Bundy married Carol Ann Boone while in prison, they had a daughter,Rose born in 1982. Boone divorced Ted in '86,its been a mystery where they are now Sue

I don’t either. The bad boy attraction I get but this psycho killer attraction I don’t. Perhaps it stems from some sort of fascination or deeper need to be able to fix someone.

Depends on the whys

Good example 911.

This is the kind of question that is so difficult to answer. Calling someone a "killer" connotes someone that goes around Killing people for fun or money. It can be interpreted any sorts of ways. Any Clyde here looking for a Bonnie? A better definition of what is a "killer" would help. On the other hand, not defining probably makes for a more interesting thread.

Martin was banging Zimmerman's head on the concrete when he was shot. Neither of them used good judgement in that incident.

On second thought, for me it would all depend on circumstances. Who it was. Why it happened etc.

If someone had to kill for self defence and the person had been found innocent then I’d consider it if I felt safe and comfortable around them

If someone is drafted or volunteers to serve their country and in doing so ended up killing someone then I’d consider it depending on the person and circumstances .

It’s too easy to stereotype people when we don’t have enough information about them

Actress Charlize Theron's mother killed drunken, abusive father in front of Charlize. She was not charged.

Lana Turner's 14 yr old daughter killed Lana's abusive bf.

Then there's Francine Hughes ...The Burning Bed movie with Farrah Fawcett.

There have been many cases where a father or mother killed their child's rapist/molestor. Usually they go to prison.

Heck yeah, depending on who she killed. What if he was a woman that killed a man that raped and killed her daughter? Damn right I would date her.

No way. Trouble gets more trouble. Anyone who's murdered someone is dangerous.

Well...."Anyone?" A police officer who killed to protect himself or someone else? An innocent person who killed to save his life?

Yes, the question is too general to be answered. The word "killer" brings to mind Zimmerman and Bundy, but what about someone who killed in self defense? What about the military? What about someone who killed someone by accident? What about someone who as a little kid, found a gun and shot one of his playmates? He technically is a killer,
too.

If motivated by racism, hate, etc., or if someone is a serial killer, of course not. But what about the above situations?

I'll clarify my point of view. If someone had to kill someone to save their own life it would not be an issue to me, I expect any reasonable person to try anything to save their own life or the lives of their family members. If someone kills another for no good reason, they fit into another category as a murderer who went out to seek a victim and take their life, as in the case of Zimmerman.
Agree with this too SB....

I agree, Aunt Bea, it’s an interesting thread. If your definition of a killer is someone who has killed another person, than probably several of you have dated a killer. It’s kind of a trick question, although not meant to be.

My husband was a combat marine. He has killed. He also walked behind and protected tanks. Those tanks attacked villages. Tank commanders kill lots of people, men, women, and children. War planes, flown by pilots, kill lots of people, I could go on.

Car accidents kill people. Boat accidents kill people. Doctors kill people. Lots of individuals kill people. Nothing is as simple as this question indicates. Just saying.
