Would you ever consult a "Fortune Teller"?

My ex used to consult fortune tellers at county fairs. She believed they could foresee the future. I have a friend, who sees one on a regular basis. Would you ever consult a "Fortune Teller"? Have you ever gotten a reading from a Fortune Teller?

The closest I ever came to a fortune teller was years ago when me and my sister went to see James Van Praagh. We didn't think we would get to talk to him. There were over 300 people in the audience and he looked at me and my sister and told us our Dad wanted to talk to us. He was amazing and said so many things that were true about my Dad and he even mentioned my Mom who was still alive. He said her name and that she loved to go to BINGO.My sister and I just sat there frozen. We never spoke to anyone in the audience and didn't know anyone else that was there.Till this day I don't know how he knew all the things he told us.

If Edgar Cayce was still alive I would like to interview him. He was not a fortune teller, but a clairvoyant who could convey messages from the spirit world. I have read books about him and :yoda:I wonder?

No, although I do believe some people are capable of predicting the future, there are too many of them happy to exploit others and just in it for the money

My daughter and I once went to a psychic evening at a local club. She was warned to be careful of her purse. A couple of days later, her bag was stolen. When it was found, everything was still inside but her purse had been emptied.

My funny encounter ..
I consulted one at my daughter's urging while I was visiting her in New York state years ago.
While waiting for the reading, my daughter and I sat and talked about things going on back home. .(that was a mistake!) ..things like my sheepdog, Fred, that I left in the care of neighbors, etc.
Well, when I got my reading, among other things that she had to overhear, she told me there was someone very important in my life named "Fred".

The reading was for entertainment purposes, and it turned out that way for sure. A wasted afternoon!

Some dreams can be predictive. One night I had a dream and in that dream my right hand was extremely swollen and puffy. A few days later my blind Silky Terrier bit the finger next to my pinky on my right hand. That was on a Saturday. By Monday morning that hand was extremely swollen up to my wrist. My doctor gave me an antibiotic shot and antibiotic pills to take. She said that if I had waited much longer I would have gotten blood poisoning.

What does this way about the future and what we can know about it?

I visited a psychic fair many years ago, knowing full well it was all for fun, and not taking it seriously. I will have to admit to being intrigued by what I was told. A back story, the evening before I had talked with my SIL on the phone and she told me about taking my then 3 year old niece to a pediatric dentist and he told her my niece had signs of an over bite and may need braces later.
Fast forward to psychic the next day. He asked if I had a toddler in my life. I said yes. He then said "Well she will have an over bite and might need braces. OK, lots of kids need braces, but for him to mention the day after I found out was a bit freaky
Another psychic, months later told me she saw me with a man with the initial R and we would marry. Well......Rick
Those were the only times I ever went. I have no interest in going again. Back then it was just for fun.

PS. My niece did get braces. LOL

Coincidences do happen.

No. But last year my mother called me and asked if I was ok. I said yes. She said she had a dream that I was very sick and had died. Nope not dead. But two nights before she called I had a life threatening medical issue, was hospitalized overnight, and I did almost die. Strange.

I do believe that dreams can predict the future. As far as fortune tellers, I've never been to one, but keep an open mind. If I stumbled upon one somehow who wanted to give me a reading, I'd probably let them. Like Wren said, too many out there looking to scam people.

I have an open mind about them. If a friend recommended one and wanted to go on a lark, I'd bite. What the heck. YOLO.

No and never have....

My step mother used to drag out the tarot cards and try to tell our fortunes...

Things in the basement started falling over on their own.....That was all I needed to say..."I'm Done"

The only "psychic" that may be worth paying attention to might be Nostradamus. Over time, about 70% of his predictions have come to be true. Strangely enough, translations for his prediction for the start of WWIII are starting to look more realistic all the time....the tensions with Iran, N.Korea, and now China. He also predicts a devastating earthquake that will strike the Western US in the very near future....San Andreas Fault???

True story: This very successful psychic, who lives in a large house on our major interstate, got robbed. The guy broke in and robbed her. Gee, I guess she never saw that coming, right? She's still there, as best I recall. Let me check my crystal ball - - - - -

For a time, I did dabble in the occult. Auras,a few seances, etc. It is easy to get hooked. Plus sometimes what eventually happens and what was predicted do match up. I know there are studies that suggest we only remember the few "hits" and don't remember the large number of "misses". The record of "Mediums" finding the lost isn't good. I can predict that Jane Doe will be found by a body of water. Still a lot of people seem to get good readings?? Maybe Mediums ought to write a book on human psychology.
