That experience stayed with me all my life. I think in recent years, though, the dowry system was abolished although never enforced.

Sometimes, trotting across the street to visit a certain lovely lady is difficult enough for my old legs, but having to flap my arms like mad for hours to reach another country, well, I'd have to have a really big breakfast first, wouldn't I? 😊
