Would You Lie in a Coffin to Relieve Stress?

I wouldn't, I think it would make me more stressful, especially if the coffin was in a place other than my own home. Years ago I heard of float tanks for stress and relaxation. They said you floated in an enclosed tank of water, in complete darkness and silence. It sounded intriguing, but I don't think I would have trusted anyone to do that either. http://www.butterbin.com/lie-coffin-relieve-stress/

I would not lie there in a coffin.
And if I did, it'd not be often.

I would not spend time in a casket.
I think I'd likely blow a gasket.

And I don't think it would be a lark,
for soaking in a tank so dark.

I like to do my soaks in tubs,
With bubbles, candles, oils and scrubs.

So keep your coffins and your tanks,
I'll take a pass on both, but thanks!

I agree Kitties, the purring is so soothing, nothing like it. When I pet my baby, he sometimes turns it into a soft trill. Nothing wrong with a hot soak Warrigal, I just have a problem with a stranger closing a lid on me that I can't open from the inside. :bath:

The title of the thread caught my eye,I'm a fan of NCIS , and Abby sleeps in a Coffin doesn't she .
i wouldn't lie in a coffin or go in a water tank,it would send my BP up .

That was actually very interesting to read about. I guess it depends entirely on the person doesn't it? I think I'd try it just to see what it felt like and the fact that the 'coffin' shown seems to be made of cardboard and easy enough to get out of if you started freaking out might make it feel even more reassuring. Sounds like it did help the one guy that was spotlighted.

My husband wishes to have his corpse cut up by medical students, that is an excellent idea, saves bothering with a coffin, funeral and cremation.

No I definitely wouldn't be relieved of stress lying ina coffin...what??? Yikes!! :eek:mg:

I have regular MRI scans, just had another one this past Sunday...I can't freak out about it because it has to be done, I just let them slide me into that electric coffin, have headphones on and keep my eyes tightly shut the whole half hour and I'm out again... but even that is stressful and my heart is beating nineteen to the dozen..and I know there's nurses and technicians standing by to pull me out if I freak....so no, lying in a coffin is not my idea of chilling.. :hide:

Are those MRI machines the ones that make that horrible throbbing, pounding noise? Because if they are, I can totally understand why that would be hard to take. Maybe the people who use these 'coffins' find them easier because it's quiet? Do you think that would make a difference to you in that machine if it wasn't so loud? And sorry to hear that you have to endure this on a regular basis. Such a drag on your life eh?

By the way, my daughters name is Holly and my pet nickname for her was and still is Hollydolly (when we're having an especially close moment!), so your screen name gave me a little happy buzz. So there's a hollydolly in England and a Hollydolly in Whistler, BC. Hope you're having a nice day and don't have to see the machine again too soon. Take care.

When I was about 13/14, during school lunchtimes I used to walk down to the local town centre with a girl in my class to have our lunch. We passed an undertakers en route and would dare each other to run in and touch the coffins, which were being constructed. We had a shock one day when one of the coffins had a body of a man in it. We decided to give up that game!:D

I really can't think how lying in a coffin would have any health benefits at all...apart from extreme angst on my part..

It's almost as silly as going to a spa and having rocks placed down your spine for 30 minutes..

I bet the instigators are laughing all the way to the bank..

Still..I suppose if you think it is doing you good..maybe it does!

Hi Debby I'm happy that my name makes you smile when you log in...and thank you for your concern re the MRI scan bless you. Yes unfortunately I've had to have a few and hopefully not too many more we'll see..but yes they are the ones with the horrendous noise. The noise doesn't particularly bother me, it's being so tightly enclosed and with the lid (roof) of the thing only inches above my face it freaks me out, but I have to stay as calm and still as possible so they can get a good reading .

There was an elderly man who'd gone in before me last week, and clearly it was his first time, so within 5 minutes he was back out telling his daughter that under no circumstances could he lie in the 'coffin'...poor man he was totally freaked out, and I could understand completely.

Would you consider lying in a coffin..clasping a bouquet of flowers to be normal behaviour?

I would do it for a laugh, if my kids dared me to, not for any other reason. I would have to be careful they didn't put the lid on though!:D:D:D

"It's not the cough that carries you off...it's the coffin, they carry you off in".:)
