……be a big fish in a small pond, or a small fish in a big pond?

In my dance community I am very much a big fish. I’ve been ballroom dancing for a long time, done competitions and showcases, and in most venues I’m regarded as competent and accomplished.

Same can be said for other groups I’m
part of, e.g. my local Naranon group (one of my kids is an addict, in recovery now 7+ years jist for today)

I’ve realized I am much more comfortable being the big fish. My daughter, as a different example, is far more relaxed when she’s just one of a much larger group and she can sort of blend.

There’s no right or wrong to either scenario. It just is. So what about you? Big fish or small fish?

Small fish in a big pond, but not too big.

I want space, lots of it, no neighbours, and I want peace and quiet. I don't want to see people every time I turn around and everywhere I go, and if and when I get a hankering to mingle, a nice quiet, quaint place will do, then back to my hideout.

I've always been my own best company and am most happy and content when doing my own thing. I've never been a people person, and holding true to my nature, that aspect about me has intensified as I have gotten older.

I seek a comfortable existence, free of toil, stress, and outside influence, and at the end of the day so long as I'm in my own home and in my own bed, life is good.

@Aunt Marg I totally agree. I would be the one hiding under the dead log near the shoreline.
I'd stick my head out now and then to grab a worm or insect and back I would go to enjoy my peace and solitude.
Seems those like you and I, Ruth, are such rarities in today's day and age.

Some people have a hard time understanding me for it, yet there's nothing to explain. We each have our own ways, and at the end of the day it's about finding contentment and being at peace with it (and with ourselves), and that's me.

Don't really know

Been both

Don't much like being the big fish

Yer under the microscope

Kinda funny
Most big fish would rather be a small fry after several sessions under that magnification

I just like to mingle....all sizes...people and ponds

Heck, if a mud puddle had a wet worm in it, we'd discuss some good times

Copycat! Thank you ...your words reflect how I feel also. I'll be the little fish over in the corner of the pond. lol

I've had all the attention I needed years ago..I just want to live my life peacefully.
If you like me ...fine, if not , that's fine too.

I'll probably regret writing this in the morning lol
