Would You Want to Play an Ugly Role and/or a Villain?

Okay if you suddenly took a magic acting pill. Perhaps some us have had real live acting work. How would you feel about a role that makes you over the top homely? How about a character who is truly evil? I've been binging a couple episodes of OINB every day. Some of the regulars look like they got out of a wood chipper.

Obviously in prison unless you have connections your hair and makeup are going to suffer. But then you see the actors in real life and of course some of them are gorgeous. But would you want to see yourself on screen with mangled teeth, ghastly tattoos, bald or hacked hair, your eyes made up to look like years of meth?

Then there's playing the bad guy or girl. I can't even watch The Joker in the Batman movies, violence and I cover my eyes. But imagine playing that character. In OINB there is a character named Vee. A sociopath heroin dealer...well I suppose some dealers are just plain nastier than others...but she is chilling.

Thoughts?

It is acting and the residuals pay for some rather nice homes, plus more often than not, you'll better maintain anonymity. Sounds like a win, win to me if one wants a life in that business.

I would love to play a chilling female psychopath. Such a marvelous challenge. Thing is, if you look too long in the abyss, it looks back at you. But for a short time, marvelous.

I've done college and community theater and ALWAYS thirsted for the villain roll. There's so much more range to play with than the white-bread good guys.

My dream would be to play Doctor Lector from Silence of the Lambs - talk about a chilling, yet intelligent, character!

But would you want to see yourself on screen with mangled teeth, ghastly tattoos, bald or hacked hair, your eyes made up to look like years of meth?

Well, except for the meth eyes, I'm already there! :(

I once played an adulterer opposite a woman who my wife, in the same play, hated in real life!

She couldn't complain too much as her breast was squeezed on stage!
