This saltwater crocodile named Lolong was measure at over 20 ft, and around 2000 lbs.
There are reportedly bigger ones out there, but they haven't actually been measured.
I know they can be maneaters, and pose quite a threat to other wildlife, but it's still a bit sad to see them in captivity.
They are amazing, formidable animals that date back millions of years, and have evolved to be fierce predators.
Sometimes it's hard to balance human safety against animal rights. Sometimes animals like mountain lions and bears can be relocated when they intrude on society, but if they have killed, then authorities take a different tack and euthanize them. It's a tough call to make. One could say they were here first, but if humans evolved, then it's a moot point.
When you're dealing with carnivores, I guess the question becomes: Would you want one lurking in your back yard that has been known to kill other humans? Perhaps giving them a home in a zoo is better than giving them the axe. IDK
