The skies the limit. There was always lots of things to do when we were kids
Riding two and three on a bike and no helmets.
I just read your's to my son. His life to a T, except the pool belonged to the townhouse complex so he didn't have to clean it.Swimming in the pool, playing whiffle ball or basketball with friends, or riding my bike.
Indoors I would be playing a very nerdy and geeky baseball board game called Strat-o-Matic Baseball with a couple of my friends. We spent many summer hours playing that game, replaying the previous baseball season.
At night, I was usually watching TV or reading once the Little League season was over.
My summer chores were brushing the pool every morning, helping my dad with the yard on mowing days, and watering the outdoor plants that the irrigation didn't reach.
When we got to be teenagers we would play with the neighbor kids, kick-the-can in the yard until it got dark, then cards and board games on the screened in porch. Whoever's house we were at, it would always be popcorn and Kool-Aid. It's hard to believe there was a time before pizza and Coke. Her mother made us popcorn in a big frying pan and green kool aid!
Grumps! When I raised my son in the city liked the sounds the kids made because I knew where they were. I loved the sound of his BigWheel. My favorite thing was roller skating down the sidewalks, but it made a lot of noise and some people complained.![]()
