You think you're old, the Stones are touring in 2024.

Its like the old Politicians, they want the power. Phony is what I think. There are 10's of 1000's of youngsters with a hell of a lot more talent then them old relics in every state, every country; worldwide.

actually you'd be amazed... Mick is pedantic about keeping fit.. he's always exercising so he can not only live longer but can give his all in concerts...
You have a good point there. Back in the 60's he and his girlfriend, Marianne Faithfull, were in the headlines every other week. That lady moved into a care home about three years ago. Whatever Mick's on, I wouldn't say no to a bottle full.

Mick Jagger still has that energy, even after his health issues. God love them for being able to still tour. My BFF is a professional pianist who has done many tours, some with well known artists and more recently as music director and pianist for theater groups. I used to think it was a glamorous life until I heard some of her stories. It can be quite draining or worse if things don't go perfectly as planned. She feels she wouldn't be able to tour anywhere near as much as when she was younger.

Performing is in itself a kind of drug that gives a natural high. Vintage performers and their fans have a love relationship, and it’s always a thrill to see living legends, part of history, really, as long as they haven’t totally lost their chops…

There are still some Doo Wop groups from the 50’s still appearing on stage with other Doo Wop groups. Not all members of the groups are the originals, but a few members are still hanging in there. The Duprees are maybe 50% original members. Richie Rosato sang lead and gas since retired, but occasionally, he will make an appearance.

My favorite Doo Wop singer, Johnny Maestro died from kidney cancer. I became acquainted with him in the late 60’s at a Doo Wop concert and then again when I happened to be in Clearwater and him and his group, The Crests, appeared at Ruth Eckerd Hall. He remembered me and invited me to meet him at the hotel after the show. My wife and I met with Johnny and his wife. I couldn’t believe how much food he ate after the show. Maestro had the perfect voice for singing Doo Wop.

The money is in the tours and selling the mech. With all the pirating and the payment systems now, they don’t make anything from just creating new music. Their egos keep them creating, so they go where they can make the money. Mick is a businessman.

There are Oldies Radio FM stations. Del Shannon, Bo Diddley etc. They pay the PRO and it distributes to the Song Writers and Publishers the money. The recording artist makes little from the songs airtime in the USA. They seem to own million-dollar homes and private jets.
I usually get up and go to the bathroom when they perform on SNL though. I went to Fairground Concerts till I was in my 50's, Dr. Hook and the Medicine show, Willie Nelson, Confederate Underground, Reba and Alabama + many others. Checking out the Girls there mostly. Delt with some insect stings too. Haha It's something, So, how to waste a lot of money for entertainment.

I was on the ferry from France to England when I heard Brian Jones drowned in his swimming pool, @chic. Must have been '69.

Never know how a kid shows up! My grandson looks just like my father, blond & blue eyed, much to the consternation of his other grandparents, Italian & dark. Grandson's parents are also dark. Hah! DIL like her parents & my son like his native Canadian dad. I repeat HAH! My dad got the last laugh!
