Your Christmas Shopping Done Yet ??

All the kids get cash. That's useful to them. The adults get actual gifts, and I figure it out right around Thanksgiving or a little after.

My daughter in France will get a bunch of gifts (she's easy to buy for -- she wants everything), including a little artificial tree and ornaments.

Should I get her French boyfriend something? Because of course she has one.

@Naturally , the third line has a question that you neglected to answer!
Oh absolutely. If your daughter has a French boyfriend, you’re required to get him something charming, slightly confusing, and possibly scented. Maybe a nice bar of soap that costs too much and hope he doesn't take it the wrong way, or a scarf he can wear while shrugging philosophically.

But seriously, a small token would be lovely. Maybe something that says “Welcome to the family” without screaming “I’m watching you, Pierre". A box of local treats or something from your area would go over great. After all, diplomacy starts with dessert.

I call him Frenchie because it pisses off my daughter. Maybe I'll get him a stuffed poodle called Pierre, that is hugging a bottle of men's cologne.

No all done. Cards that have season greetings & room for Benjamin's bought, filled & put away for that special day.
That's what we're doing now but with one wrapped gift for each little one. Took so much pressure off when we made that decision.
If we see something during the year that's perfect for someone we get it and give it to them then.

I try not to be a Scrooge but personally I've never really enjoyed Christmas since my mother passed away in the 70's. I still send out cards to friends. There's a couple of special people I usually buy a gift for. I'm one of these kinds of people that if I see something during the year that reminds me of someone, I will buy it for them for no special reason except that I was thinking about them.

I guess that I am lucky. I only buy for my 1 niece. She still works for a large corporation and travels a lot. I know she really likes sweaters, so I usually buy her a really nice sweater and also give her a gift card to her favorite restaurant, Ruth’s Chris Steak House.
I often wonder how many sweaters she has.

When I had people to buy for I shopped all year long.
I had a present stash that I could go to for birthdays and holidays and whatevers.
Picked up a lot of stuff at after holiday sales. 75 percent off sales were great.

I dont buy or receive any presents now. I really dont need anything. Im pretty much full up. :D
My husbands wife used to buy me the bestest presents.
I used to do this because I had a lot of people to buy for on both sides of the family. Now I take my kids out to a fancy restaurant for Christmas and we all enjoy that and don’t exchange gifts. They usually give me a gift card to one of my favorite restaurants. I only have two people that I exchange gifts with and they aren’t local so I usually just order Some fancy candy online and have it sent to them.
