Your Favorite Ethnic Cuisine

Oooh, my favourite subject, food!

Shawarma, falafel, hummus .. also Indian curries, many of which we make ourselves, Greek, Italian, Turkish (we have Turkish relatives), Polish (relatives), Japanese (though most authentic restaurants are way downtown), Chinese (we make a lot of our own). Other than fish, which I'm allergic to, we eat just about everything. I can eat scallops, shrimp, crab and lobster, thankfully.

If you're in Toronto, and are open-minded enough to try a different type of cheesecake (not the dense New York style), try Uncle Tetsu's cheesecake. You will have to line up, and there's a limit to how many you can purchase .. also, it's kinda pricey. However, at least, this person, found it to be quite a decadent taste experience. Of course, I didn't line up or pay for it :playful: My nephew and his wife bought it.

I love Italian food. Back in the 50's my grammar school was built right next to a Buitoni canning factory. The school had no air conditioning and the teacher would open the windows, the aroma of the sauce would waft through the classroom. I would get so hungry I couldn't concentrate.

Oy, Ruth that you should live near us. Hubby works at an Italian place that has been there forever. The things he brings home...

Chinese (depends on the region; I don't like hot and spicy)
I would love to visit a real NYC deli sometime. I love bagels and lox, and knishes.
Even in the Deep South I can't find any restaurant or grocery store that sells chess pie, and that is a very southern dish. And I love it!
