Your favorite Robots pictorial

Inspired by this thread I thought it might be fun to focus more closely on...robots. Fictional, non-fictional... fun robots, serious robots, working robots etc.

My first all time favorite is Gort:

As you can see, Gort has it's own Wikipedia page. Gort is among numerous well know robots from film and entertainment on The robotman.com

Some of the best ones don't have glamor shots to offer, because they only exist in books.

The Runaway Robot (1965):

"We're returning to earth," Paul's father tells him. Paul is wildly excited, for all human beings on the planet Ganymede dream of going back to Earth some day. Then Paul finds out that he cannot take his robot Rex with him. Rex has been his constant companion for sixteen years. Leave him behind? Never!
So begins a series of breathtaking adventures in space as Paul and his robot Rex attempt to outwit the forces that seek to separate them.

Cities In Flight (1957):

... deals with long-term space travel. The cities are actual Earth cities (like New York and Scranton, Pa.) that were able to literally pick up and leave the planet thanks to the development of the spindizzy. Some of the city inhabitants were able to live effectively forever, thanks to drugs that were available; but only if they had the skills needed by the city. The City Fathers tutored the children of the city, decided who would be a citizen with skills that were needed (and live forever with geriatric drugs) and who would be a passenger with a normal life span.
It's easy to think that because the City Fathers are dead, they're also stupid… Otherwise they would never be given the power they wield - and in some departments their power is absolute.
Suppose they had a breakdown?
If there were only a few of them, that would be a real danger; but there are more than a hundred, and they monitor and repair each other, so in fact it will never happen. Sanity and logic is their stock in trade.

Didn't this one say "no dis-assemble"? On several forums over the past 25 years I've used Johnny 5's likeness as my forum avatar:
And "beautiful stars better see." ☺️ And the dance.... more than a 🎶 woman to meeee.....
When Stephanie was bathing, didn't he say something about nice software? :ROFLMAO:

Seems like a sort of cyclops.
Yeah, it sort of looks that way... but under the visor is a scanner and a focused energy beam weapon.

I got the impression Gort's "body shape" was more of a convenience for working around humanoid races, which is why they constructed the guardians in that form. The were the galactic "policemen" and were given great power and autonomy to keep the peace.

More likely their "vision" sensors may have been located elsewhere within the body, using mechanisms beyond our technology. We know that Gort could see the spot cast by a small flashlight on a wall while his visor was down.

The robot that first appeared in Forbidden Planet in 1956, named "Robbie" was quite a hard working robot, beloved by millions(of humans).

Robbie's a fairly handsome creature, not sure who the others are.
I never liked this robot because it was clumsy and awkward in it's movement. You knew even as a kid that some guy was inside it. Plus it had an announcers voice.

Lol, with the electro-mechanical sounds it made I thought it sounded like a cross between an adding machine and a pinball machine.
