Your Favorite Voices and Singers Male & Female?

Like singers with just a little 'Edge' to their voice.
May never win a 'best singer' contest, but I like 'em.
So my list:

Tom Waits
Leon Russell
Neil Young
Greg Allman
Antonio Carlos Jobim
Pedro Aznar

and #1 would be Frank, 'Chairman of the Board'.

The only name I recognise from your list is Neil Young, so I had a listen to the name at the top of your list, Tom Waits. At first I thought I could hear some Bruce Springsteen in there. I say ‘some’, as that thought didn’t last too long. Right up to the point I listened to Telephone Call From Istanbul. 😀

I love his music; actually think I have a couple songs on my Spotify list. :)

In the past I’ve had my hair cut by Elvis Presley; he’s a damn good barber! He used to own a barber shop. He probably still does as I think it was family run. Bear with me.

Pretty good for someone who was born in England, as apposed to someone born in Mississippi. (Just checking to see if I’ve got enough S’s in there?... Seems ok?)

Gordon Hendricks, the singing barber. He holds his scissors as he does his microphone 😀

Randy Travis—Best baritone ever.
Michael Stipe—-Lead singer REM
Steve Perry—-Lead singer Journey
Frank Sinatra—Best singer of the Golden Age
Dean Martin & Bing Crosby—-Tied for second behind Sinatra for best singer of the Golden Age
Nat “King” Cole—Smoothest sounding singer ever. Great listening on a rainy day.
Bob Dylan—-Just Joking

Nat King Cole. My mother liked and listened to him. I also found a Natalie Cole CD at the thrift store recently that has the Unforgettable duet on it.

Bono.

Grace Slick from Jefferson Airplane days.

Neil Young.

I remember one night I was channel surfing and came across Andrea Bocelli in concert. I hadn't heard of him before but I found him fascinating and his voice wonderful, of course, so I watched and enjoyed the entire concert. This is a beautiful rendition.

Every time I hear of Andrea Bocelli I think of Sarah Brightman and their song that went to number 1 or 2 in the UK charts.

Time To Say Goodbye

Sarah's English language version.

Yeah, Andrea Bocelli is a great singer. I'm not so much into pop or folk music but for opera I like Grace Bumbry,

Leontyne Price

and Renée Fleming

From Europa there is Angela Gheorghiu

Joe Bataan’s voice captured me the first time I heard him sing Gypsy Woman. I bought a couple of his albums and a cassette tape. Years later my curiosity about if he was still around led me to do some research. I was happy to find out that he was still performing. I always thought he was Puerto Rican because of his appearance and the fact that he had the Latin music genre sewn up back in the day but was surprised to read that he’s actually African American and Filipino. I was excited to find out Joe was performing relatively close to home soon after. My husband and I attended the concert, which we enjoyed immensely and had a chance to meet, chat and take pictures with him after the show (that was over a decade ago). He's such a nice, humble man.

I like your taste in music.
Years ago Celine Dion sang with Andrea Bocelli and I hadn’t heard of him before.
This was a big show and I was a Celine Dion fan since she was from Canada.

Anyway I watched these two sing together and thought it sounded beautiful but it didn’t look like they were connecting with each other like most harmonizing vocalists do. When my husband came home the same show was on again on another channel so I showed him how Andrea wasn’t really connecting right or making eye contact. My husband took one glance snd said…. No! That’s because he’s blind. 😝 lol. I felt like such a fool.
