Your feelings about Amazon?

I have been a member since they arrived here, I am lazy,
I suppose, they deliver for free, though I do pay for Prime.

I never had any trouble until last week, I ordered 2 items
and paid for them, then I remembered another item that
I had forgot about, 6 minutes later and again ordered it,
10 minutes later I got an email, "Payment Declined", this
was the situation for 8 days, it wasn't the Bank, they knew
nothing about a rejected payment, it wasn't Amazon, they
said, their customer service for here, is now in India, where
I had bad service when my Internet Provider, also had them
over there.

Anyway it is all back to normal now and have an order in the
air for delivery on Tuesday.

Mike.

Gave up on Amazon long ago as like many they drag a person into Prime but mainly unlike eBay they do not sell what I often want, eBay do.

I avoid Amazon. I can usually do better on Walmart.com or even Ebay. In the past I have received supposedly new items that were obviously returns. If you look at customer reviews, this is not unusual. I once received a pair of binoculars that were just thrown in a big box with no padding. Luckily they were OK.
That's a lousy experience. I'm sorry. I'm glad they didn't get damaged. I'm wondering though, were those 'sold and shipped by Amazon' or sent by another vendor? I usually stick with shipped by Amazon.

I do like Amazon. Go to for books. I'll check them for other items also.

However, I also like Walmart and filter for the sold and shipped by Walmart. That way if something comes damaged, I can return it to the store. For example when I bought one of those silver kitchen storage shelves, I ordered and picked it up at Walmart because I read reviews on Amazon of damage on arrival. I had no problems with the one I got.

You can buy products and have the items delivered straight to their address? I had no idea. Is it free shipping with prime? Does it depend where they live?

We sometimes watch prime movies.
Yes, you can. As a Prime customer, you do not pay for the delivery. You just have to insert another recipient and address for that delivery. For the gift cards, you buy it from your account and have it delivered to their email address.

I don't buy anything from them. Years ago when I did buy from them they were different. Now Amazon controls my food, what is available to me on TV, or not, and they're getting into banking. Enough!

So I don't buy from them. And I'm not sorry and I don't miss them. I'm doing just fine. :)

Wow. This is even better. That’s fabulous. Thank you. My favourite niece is gonna love this. šŸ’• I love sending surprise pressies. šŸŽ
Thank you Rossana. šŸ‘

I've had a couple of presents sent to my nephew via Amazon, but I was not a Prime member at the time and I think there was a shipping charge. But it is a quick and easy way to send a gift without having to buy it, wrap it and mail it at the post office, which is what I always did in the past.

Live in an area filled with Amazon ... they treat their warehouse employees like crap ...... many even news stories of people trying to make Numbers in orders wearing adult diapers to do it..... years ago several warehouses in Texas they found it cheaper to have ambulances in parking lot for heat stroke instead of air conditioning ....
Office people while on surface treated a bit better they usually burn out quickly most items are contract workers as well whom they pay no benefits on ... one of my sons worked on a contract with HR moving all their HR items out of Seattle and the US which in my opinion exposes to more chance of leaking of personal info..
at holidays they have hiring events where if you show up at a location usually hotel with an ID they hire ..... is that who you want to be able to see your account info????
I have never had account nor will I ..... companies can not be clearly judged by the Face they put on for customers ..........but far too many think they are better then they really are.

I see why people use them but if I absolutely must I order online I go to smaller establishment website. Not a fan of the clubs, memberships etc.

That being said I've used the blink security cameras and they do a lot and even more with a subscription. Cannot find a sync module(use instead of subscription) probably on purpose.

Thanks Seabreeze. Oddly enough I’ve always seen the questions asking if it is a gift and do I want it gift wrapped and price tag removed and I could never figure out what that was about and didn’t know who to ask. Now I do.
This is very convenient indeed. 🄳
This actually made my day

My husband used to work across the street from a huge Amazon plant and they treated their employees well. They got breaks when they were supposed to, were allowed washroom breaks if and when needed and the company had proper heating and aye conditioning. They got paid well and were treated well. The plant was always kept very clean as well. It’s probably one of the biggest manufacturing plants I’ve ever seen.

Maybe it’s more of a location factor?

There is always the fairly recent Amazon further education program:

1. What is the Amazon Career Choice program?

2. What’s new with Career Choice?
In 2022, we’ve announced several additions to the program.
  • Increased Options: Employees can choose from a wider range of education offerings including high school completion/GED, English as a Second Language (ESL), and bachelor’s degrees, in addition to the previously offered associate degrees and certificates.
  • Fully Funded Opportunities: Up to an annual maximum benefit, Amazon will pre-pay 100% of tuition for employees to pursue everything from bachelor’s degrees to certificates.
  • Limitless Learning: As long as eligible employees work at Amazon, they can continue to take advantage of the Career Choice benefit with no lifetime limit.
  • Fast Starts: U.S. blue badge hourly employees (including part-time) will become eligible for Career Choice after 90 days of continuous employment, rather than 12 months.

Pretty neat, I'd say.

15 Ways to make money with or on Amazon
Check out the No.10 ... Mechanical Turk. Doesn't pay much per hour but might provide a little extra cash during leisure time.

Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk) is a crowdsourcing marketplace.
Amazon has a little program with a funny name called Mechanical Turk (MTurk). Whether it’s data validation, research, or participating in surveys, Mechanical Turk works as a hub for outsourced tasks.
While the name might imply artificial intelligence, Mechanical Turk is actually the combined efforts of hundreds (and thousands) of remote workers like you.
Amazon Mechanical Turk

DISCLAIMER: I has never participated in Mechanical Turk but someone looking for a few extra bucks without working a job might be interested.

Seems I’m going to have order from Amazon rather than buying local. We’ve both looked in different hardware and big box stores for a specific shower rack that needs replacing. No luck so fortunately there’s Amazon. It’s not exactly the right thing either but at least it exists.
