Your Monthly Food Expenditures

yes I know I have the correct spelling lol... but I wondered why so many people... seem to think it's spelled frig
It's probably because the major brand here was "Frigidaire" - So, abbreviated, it is indeed "Frig!" (Whatever that means!)

- So Holly, am I going to be embarrassed and ashamed if I look up the word f_ _ g ?

We call it a fridge. I believe that our rude pronunciation of ‘frig’ is more like freeg, as in what the freeg do you think you’re doing.

Frig - one word, two pronunciations, two meanings.

I spend about $200 a month on food and paper products as needed.
I know this time shopping I bought an extra $25 worth of TP, paper plates, foil, zip lock bags and some other odds and ends.

Lately it's been looking like this; $45 at Trader Joe's and $100 at Winco. Then through out the month, I'm picking up items to replenish what I've already eaten. Or hitting the Meat Market.

Somewhere around $600 per month, but that includes food, personal hygiene supplies, paper goods, cleaning supplies and household goodies I pick up at Costco (like batteries).

Edited to clarify - this is for two people.

Now that people have mentioned including paper products, etc I realize that’s likely landed in the Food category too. If I bought those at Canadian Tire, they’d be in a different household account.

I also realized that where we live makes a big difference in our buying power. My spending for fresh vegetables in BC is much different than in CA. Maybe it’s more like Wisconsin for the prices.

Haven't kept track so don't really know. One frugal person, at 138# 5'6" BMI 23, just don't eat a lot except on an occasional binge day, sweets, some salty greasy stuff. Not a cook, keep it simple. Rarely eat out except during road trips. Maybe $200 to $300 a month, don't buy red meats, occasional fish, chicken bits within soups, rarely alcohol, eat/drink anything I want from supermarkets regardless of price, not a coupon/sale person. Drink plenty of cheapest whole milk gallons, 64oz carton Kern Mango juice at $3 is about as expensive as it gets. My cupboards are usually full. Today typical, no breakfast, lunch $2 frozen package of 12oz broccoli florets with mayo and salt, cup of milk, dinner likely a $1.50 fat sweet potato and orange juice.

In my world, "fridge" (rhymes with ridge) has always been short for refrigerator and "frig" (rhymes with pig) has always been a euphemism for f**k.

Never heard frig used to describe a refrigerator, unless it wasn't working, in which case one might say, "I can't believe our frigging fridge is broken."
