Your Thoughts on the Safety of Melatonin for Children

We don’t need to have children to use good common sense and you have plenty.
Some of the people I have met who are childless, yet close to sibling’s children, seem to parent far more effectively than the actual parents. Not all parents have great maternal/paternal instincts.

Keesha, in some ways that is true. A lot of parents are so strung out on work and no sleep themselves. Children's early years are often frustrating, scary, and effing LOUD. My oldest son was a screamer, as well as a defiant little sh--. My mom was great with him, me not so much. Thankfully kids grow up.

While I generally agree that giving sleep aids to children is a bad idea, I do understand the temptation. As an anxious person, falling asleep has always been difficult for me, and I've therefore been sleep-deprived to some extent throughout most of my life.

Simply putting kids to bed does not in any way insure that they will get adequate rest or sleep. I can personally attest to this.
