Your Vehicle?

We bought a brand new Nissan Qashqui SUV in February this year, I love the fact it’s higher for getting in and out of unlike my old Toyota Corolla

The car is not much different in body size in comparison to the Toyota but so much more roomy / comfy with all the mod cons of a modern car 🚗

had Hyundai Sante Fe for 16 years... until we got rear-ended from dead stop. she wasn't pretty anymore by then but who knows how many more miles she had left... was over 180,000 with no signs of dying soon. a rear-ender at estimated 40-50 mph pretty much seals an old car's fate.

now have 2017 Hyundai Tucson. i like being up off the road. it's comfy and gets good mileage... i guess. got it in january and bet i havn't bought gas more than 4 times since mid-March.

We have a Prius so of course the mileage is great but it is a cramped little car and I would love a bigger more comfortable SUV or van type car next time around. It will have to be like the Prius and run electric at least part, there is no going back to gas only for hubby.

I have two 4x4's, a Ford Explorer and Dodge truck. They served me well while living in the high Sierra snow country for 35 years. I'm in the high desert now where 4x4 is seldom needed. But I see no need to replace them. They are reliable and practical. And yes Jules, SUV's and trucks with their higher ground clearance and visibility is a great advantage in traffic.

I have a 2018 Honda Civic - it's a Hatchback. It's my 6th Honda in a row :)

I like the general look of it - much sportier than my previous 2013 model. I like the lower ride and the upgraded EX spec with full leather and lots of toys to play with :) Uses a bit more juice than the last one despite the same engine spec but hey ho :)

I have a small pickup truck that is more than I need.

I went to a small truck years ago because it makes me feel more independent/self-sufficient.

I rarely have more than one passenger so it works for me.

This year will be the first year that I drive less than 1,800 miles and it has me taking a hard look at my need for a vehicle. It costs me approx. $100.00/week to own, insure, garage, maintain, a vehicle and I'm not feeling the bang for the bucks. The thing that I can't really put a price on is the freedom of being able to grab the keys and fly out the door at a moment's notice.

We'll see.

Nice ride. Honda always delivers great vehicles.

I have to assume that the $400 per month that you quote for vehicle expenses includes a monthly payment? And a monthly payment to a storage facility to a HOA

We have a 2012 Toyota Yaris and it will hit 100,000 km soon but it is a good car to take shopping and the gas mileage is good. We bought a 2018 Chevy Equinox last May as I needed something bigger to hold 3 guys that are over 6' tall and we can move larger items in the back with the seats down. The Chevy is definitely more comfortable and gives a good view for short me but it is awkward to park in malls and needs more room or maybe I am not that good at parking (sort of a tendency to mount curbs on the right side of the vehicle). I would like to upgrade the Toyota to an updated car that has the same features (like side mirrors that show you if someone is beside you) as it gets confusing at times to bounce between the 2 vehicles. Anyways my life is really hard, right?

Hi Oy, I’m loving the picture, especially the moorland over Chorley. I miss it being exiled in Sussex. You and the car are not bad either!

I don't have a monthly payment but I did take into account the depreciation and the lost opportunity to invest the money tied up in the vehicle. I also included the $35.00 monthly fee for indoor parking in the apartment complex where I live.

We lease Hondas, and are going back to an SUV next time around. A few years back, we were rear-ended by a car that was rear-ended, sitting behind us. The traffic was suddenly at a dead-stop on the highway, and a car with 3 young women in it, couldn't stop. They were probably going 100 km's or more. Even with another car sitting behind us, the SUV sustained a lot of damage. However, Honda decided to repair rather than write it off. It was never quite the same, and took months to get it back. It would have been worse if it was not an SUV. The couple behind us had whiplash and had to go to hospital.

We've got a 2006 Chevy Impala, and a 1997 Dodge Dakota. The Dakota just turned 100K miles, and it's in real nice shape....we keep it primarily in case we have to go somewhere in bad Winter weather....4WD and high ground clearance. The Chevy has about 75K on it, and it, too, is in good shape. We may trade it off in the next year because it is almost too big for the wife to drive confidently, anymore....so we'll look for a compact SUV with good "visibility".
