Youthful fantasy

R.I.P. With Us In Spirit Only
We lose it mostly as we age and become realistic. When I was a kid I used to think of a island somewhere, peaceful, sunny and only people who were peaceful and my friends could be there. It was a fleeting thought but one the reoccurred from time to time. All kids have these secret dreams, what were yours?

"All kids have these secret dreams, what were yours?"

Lots of naked girls, but this happened as an older "kid"! :p imp

I had many of them - in fact, as the youngest by far of four kids I was usually left to my own devices, so had lots of time to fantasize. I don't remember many of them now, but the one main one was always to be a scientist.

Yes. I did have that island dream, but with only my wife and I on the island. That never would have worked. Being much more normal than I, she really needed other people to talk to. Besides; with survival depending on me, we would have been dead within a week.

Lucky you, Phil. I think having the time and permission to day dream is one of the best things that a kid can have. I was fortunate to have it. It led to a life time habit of wondering about the world around me. I have often boasted that I could live in a closet and never be bored. I am basically living that out now. Anyone whose childhood dream was to be a scientist is O.K. in my book.

Kids? Were?

Oh dear, oh dear! What a sad life you must lead.

My next adventure could start at any time, and I'm always prepared!

I didn't waste my youth. I saved it until I was old enough to enjoy it (78 and counting!)!

Laurie, good for you! Age is just a number. I had an aunt with much the same attitude. She was still enjoying life and trying out new things until she died in her sleep shortly after her 96th birthday. Even her mobility concerns did not hinder her. She said she might not be a biker babe, but she certainly was a scooter queen! She was amazing.

As a child, who never read age appropriate books, I discovered Pearl Buck and Margaret Meade's books. That were written in the early 1930s. Opened up a whole new world. From there I discovered the multi-cultural churches in Boston. Little did my parents know I would walk 40 miles (20 to 20 back) to Boston to seek churches and ethnic areas. When I discovered Chinese Opera....OH MY ! ! ! So, of course, I longed to be a cultural anthropologist. Somehow, enforced college...that was just a finishing school....did not have any courses to achieve this. :D

Well at least owning the Island life, it's still possible. These are a bit up priced, but, I've seen some priced as low as half a mil I know that's in some of y'alls budget. :D At least one of our members. ;)

I watch this show and this guy cracks me up

Now if you haven't any money in your budget this might be for you

Yep, fun watching some of those shows and the irritating people whose favorite lines are open concept and granite counters a bathroom for every child on a teacher's salary.

Pappy considering I drink a lot of bottled water, I'm giving some thought to that last video. :turnaround: Dreams do come true they can happen to you, if you're young at heart. :)

I like you Nona. So seldom to find someone who looks at the world beyond their nose.
The world ends at the house down the block for so many people. Most seem to pass through life never having had any idea where they have been.

I wonder if I could make any money selling a little plastic island that you could float in the bath tub like a rubber ducky.
Sexy doll in grass skirt would be extra of course.:greedy_dollars::greedy_dollars:

If I had my druthers and my body were up to it, I guess my youthful fantasy would be to a cross country trip with a small group of friends hitting all the famous great landmarks, it used to be just to drive cross country in a car, but, I'd want the whole house on wheels type of vehicle at this point unless we're going to hit a nice hotel at every stop. :D I still may get to do a short trip here and there across the coast once and a while before I perish, we'll see.
