'Y'wanna People'

All my life I've had 'well meaning' people telling me....."Y'wanna do this, or y'wanna do that"....as though I'm incapable of stringing any ideas of my own together, however, as I've got older, and perhaps, just a little curmudgeonly, I'm now telling these 'y'wanna' people that, I like the colour scheme in my home, I like the old fashioned toilet seat, I like to play my vinyl records and not have them squeezed into a phone that can take pictures, order meals and a million other things too. They look at me with a confused expression and as though I'm talking another language, but do you know what, I get a real buzz when they give me that 'dohhhhh' look....

Don't know exactly how to reply to this, other than to say that, at 69/me and 70/wife, we love some of the modern day electronics, like our Blu-Ray DVD Player, our newer digital camera, iPhones, etc.. Have music both on cd's and on our phone, plus some pictures.
 
I get it. I don't think it's specifically about the things that you're told you need, but more about people assuming they know what's best for you, or what will improve your life, or what THEY think you need.

I get the same thing, though the specifics are different. I get that they're well meaning, and I have NO problem being told what works for THEM, but do Not assume that I need the same thing. Sharing their experience is one thing, telling me what I need is entirely different.

<grin>....just the other day, I get a call from a friend....Them; do you have so & so's phone number? My smart phone is acting up & I just do not remember the number.

Me...I think I do , let me get my book. Them...LOL you still use a personal phone book....LOL!!.........Me, ya want the number or not?......:)
