What have you bought recently?

I got a new shower mat last week as well. same as the one I have now because that's been the only one that has truly been non slip.., just a replacement for it...

Today I got to the town early where I was meeting DD for lunch.. and walked around the shops... she's not a shopper, so it's easier to do it on my own.
I bought a small gift in a small specialist shop to send to a friend ... but overall there wasn't anything that caught my eye in the stores for me .. which are all upmarket there in that town centre.. Everything was a little bit dull ..

I did pop into M&S food hall and get some cheese scones.. and spiced fruit buns.. which I'll freeze tomorrow..

I bought a lot of food-related kitchen items that are stainless steel with silicone lids, glass with bamboo lids, and bamboo cutting boards. We are in the process of eliminating plastics in our kitchen because of unhealthful microplastics.

I'm also in the process of purchasing a spring/summer wardrobe.

I reloaded my liquor cabinet last Tuesday. I hadn’t noticed the prices until I got home. I spent just over $700. My son had a few parties while I was traveling. He never replaces anything, including all the food him and his friends eat. My housekeeper went shopping and spent another $475.

If I didn’t love him so much, I would kick his butt out, but he does well running his business from my home. I just don’t understand why he doesn’t replace what he uses. How many times do you have to tell a 40 year old man to do his share. He doesn’t even do his own laundry. He throws it into a laundry bag and then sets it out on Monday’s for pickup. It comes back on Thursday. At least he does pay that bill.

Three bags of garden soil, three more bags of black mulch, 50 lbs of sand (for the sandbags that weigh down the new patio umbrella), three more portulaca and 12 begonias.

Guess where I'll be after work tomorrow and on my day off on Thursday...

Per an earlier post that I'd purchased twice before on Amazon, then bragged about on this thread, am now wondering if anyone else here actually bought a box?

What have you bought recently?

...Added a couple boxes of these Swiss Miss Milk Chocolate mix packages I've mentioned herein before to get above the free shipping threshold. Easily the cheapest way to consume chocolate per weight. A typical retail store chocolate candy bar today is about 2 ounces for a dollar. These boxes contain 69 ounces (50*1.38) or $34 worth for just $7.58! Instead of making hot cocoa, I usually eat the dry powder directly out of the package.

Went there to buy again but found out someone at the Swiss Miss Amazon store apparently noticed their gross under-cost mistake probably someone typoed into their database haha. So no more at $7.58 a box as they jacked the price up to $26.99 that is still reasonable per ounce.

Unfortunately for the sake of pleasure, have become rather viscerally addicted to these intense dry chocolate powder packets so have already gone through most of the second box. They make great mobile pocket food as each 1 3/8oz packet is flat, flexible, and bombproof, that easily fit in even small pockets and when done, the flexible paper/aluminum packets nicely fold up into tiny wads.

I bought a set of 3 USB-A to USB-C cables in different lengths on Amazon. The "C" ends are right-angles so in some ways they work better on the phone.

But I quickly found out that they can't be used on my PC because they aren't really compatible and will cause other USB devices to fail. Some research suggests they can even damage the USB hub or host adapter in the PC.

My research suggests this all trees up to the most evil corporation on the planet: Apple. As always, rigging specs in favor of their own overpriced proprietary stuff.

So be careful. USB-C is a minefield and many low-priced cables may be risky. They don't all contain the proper chip embedded in the connectors to monitor, select, and isolate power to safe levels for the two devices they plug into.

Do you buy much online?

Do you prefer to shop in the brick & mortar stores...?

Did you recently get a great bargain, or feel you've paid too much for something ?

Come and share what you've bought in either ....

This week we bought a new Electric telescopic Pole tree saw.. .. which arrived today..alongside a gallon of oil for it..

Still waiting for half the order to arrive even tho' we paid for a specific date for delivery

Not as much as I used to because the high street has gone to the dogs. So it annoys me I can't spend in town. Thinking of buying these, but I think they look a bit Napoleonic....giggles...

me too, I'd like to go to the high street and spend money....Aberdeen are killing their own town.....complete DUNCES....
it's the same in most towns and cities in the UK now.. even Oxford street is affected badly... the whole premise is to get people ordering online eventually, , then that means everyone uses plastic, cash can be withdrawn ..and the govt then has control of our lives..

I decided to go along with the housekeeper today to buy a few things at the grocery store she had forgotten. It’s been a long time since I have gone grocery shopping and if I wouldn’t have seen the prices with my own two eyes, I wouldn’t have believed how much prices have risen. Seriously, I was disgusted mostly because I know the prices don’t have to be that high. The manufacturers are making dopes out of us.

My housekeeper, whose name is Dolly, not Holly, said she couldn’t buy a 5 pound bag of sugar anymore. They sell 4 pound bags, but still heftily raised the price. I bought 6-5 gallon bottles of water for our cooler to be delivered tomorrow. I can’t stand drinking tap water or making coffee in the Keurig with tap water. I had the Keurig connected to the 5 gallon bottle and when it runs dry all I have to do is remove the straw and the bottle and replace the two items and it’s ready to go.

It’s a good thing I don’t eat a lot of meat. Ground sirloin is $8.99 a pound and pork chops are almost $4 a pound. I buy the Keurig coffee pods from a distributor for .37 cents each if I buy 100 or more pods. I also buy grounded coffee beans for when I have company. Even that price has risen to a level I never thought I would see.

The grocer told us they were expecting prices to rise up to yet another 18% this year. I don’t know how families are making it work for them, even with 2 paychecks coming in. I’m going shopping for a new ride next week. I can hardly wait to see those prices.

Yes, it's awful. "shrink-flation". The whole retail establishment has become a big rip-off.

I guess it would be the equivalent of a pixie stick but chocolate and easier than the little tube.

Just discovered a Amazon are selling loo rolls , same quality as I get from Costco.. with almost twice as many rolls.. for just £5 more...
I have been buying toilet paper and paper towels from Amazon when the pandemic started. Have found it the best way to get the product I want at the best price. I but a case at a time, lasts for months.

yes well I buy a pack of 40 at Costco usually because I found them to be better quality than any of the brand names in the supermarket. ..which are also sold at Amazon.. but this brand I've found has the same qualities as the Costco brand.. ie 3 ply not 2 as most have..except Costco... and 72 rolls for just £5.00 more

I got those USB-A to USB-C cables working.

It turns out that they contain dual E-Mark chips, though I can't determine which manufacturer much less the specific model. After some fiddling and rebooting the "cables" now get set up successfully and work, though afterward they show up as "Unknown Device" with missing drivers. For now I'll just leave it, because I can't find any manually-installed driver support and Windows can't find the drivers itself.

Silly hoops to jump through for a cable.

They are also advertised as gold plated, but nope.
