Breaking News Julian Assange Arrested

Julian Assange was arrested by British Police this morning at the Ecuadorian Embassy where he's been living in refuge for 7 years...



The Wikileaks founder was dragged head-first in handcuffs by a group of seven men as stunned supporters and protesters watched on in central London as he screamed out 'the UK must resist'.

Assange, who has overseen the publication of thousands of classified military and diplomatic cables through WikiLeaks, is currently in custody and is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court 'as soon as possible'.
Ecuador's president Lenin Moreno said the decision to withdraw Assange's asylum status came after the 'repeated violations to international conventions and daily-life protocols' and his 'discourteous and aggressive behaviour'.

Will he now be extradited to US?
Probably not IMO.
He is not a joint Australian/Ecuadorian citizen so I wonder where he will choose to go next.

Is this man the liberator of a free society in which the secret, nasty and devious actions of higher govt powers are exposed? Is his treatment now a threat to all journalists throughout the free and democratic world? or is he just a devious spy, trying to make a buck out of the free and democratic world?

I think that he is so self-absorbed that he can't see how he has been used by various governments around the world as a cat's paw and mischief maker.

and perhaps he will soon become "old news"?? BUT will we ever know whether he was a saviour on this planet or just a trouble maker? the jury perhaps is still out

He is???? Are you aware of the history? Did you read the indictment (yes, I did). This is going to be an immense political and legal circus if he gets extradited. We're talking about spying, First Amendment rights, computer hacking, exposure of classified documents, and all types of conspiracy. Depending on your position, he has either exposed state secrets and is treasonous or is a true hero showing what kind of secrets (and naughty behavior) governments get into.
This could well be the biggest story of a generation and will pit rights against truth.
 
Well what he did do was 'steal' classified documents belong to another country and then showed the entire world what they contained. So in simple terms he was a thief? [ as was the two USA characters] Whether he did it for the good of the world - 'truth will out' is discussable. He did skip bail of course as well. And it appears he will be extradited to USA. God help him is all I can say when you see how people are treated in guantanamo bay!
