OMG!!!! I'm in shock, not only has she given birth to 44 kids, (38 live one) ...she's 3 years younger than my daughter, and she still looks young herself. If I'd given birth to a fraction of that, I would have looked 90 years old by the time I was 40...

her offspring will be populate a whole village or town by themselves... at least she'll always have kids to take care of her in her old age

Mariam Nabatanzi from Kabimbiri village in Uganda is said to be the most fertile woman. The 40-year-old known as Nalongo Muzaala Bana (the twin mother that produces quadruplets) is a mother to 44 children! In the past 18 years, she has given birth to six sets of twins, four sets of triplets, three sets of quadruplets, as well as a few single births. Her oldest child is 23 years old. Out of the 44 children, she lost six of them while 38 are still alive and she lives with all her kids in the same house.

Gross! Humans who contribute to our overpopulation problem are despicable. Every horrible thing we are experiencing, now, can be traced to the unconscionable breeding of our species.

For Sure! A few years ago, the UN did a study that showed that the maximum sustainable human population would be about 5.8 billion people. We are presently showing about 7.5 billion on the planet, with estimates of 9 billion by mid century, and 12 billion by the year 2200. In another 50 years, half the global population will be either undernourished or having to survive on Welfare. Between overpopulation and climate change, humanity is headed for a brick wall. The biggest increases in population are among those who have little means of supporting themselves....and this is going to lead to a major conflict between the Haves and the Have Nots....and thin the human population by half, or more. This "tipping point" will quite likely take place in the latter half of this century. Tell your kids and grandkids to keep plenty of guns and ammo on hand, as they will probably need to protect themselves.

IMO having all of those children is a subtle form of child abuse.

I would rather have a couple of kids and be able to provide some advantages for them than have 38 and be constantly worrying about day to day survival.

I guess I'm just too lazy and too selfish to willingly take on that kind of life.

I'm having trouble believing this story. For at least 13 years, she was almost continuously pregnant? It seems that she would have had world wide notoriety after her second set of quadruplets. Why do I get the feeling her husband just happens to be a Nigerian Prince, who needs help divesting himself of his millions.

It's true enough...

KASAWO, Uganda (Reuters) - Mariam Nabatanzi gave birth to twins a year after she was married off at the age of 12. Five more sets of twins followed - along with four sets of triplets and five sets of quadruplets.
Three years ago, however, the 39-year-old Ugandan was abandoned by her husband, leaving her to support their surviving 38 children alone.
It was just the latest setback in a life marred by tragedy for Nabatanzi, who lives with her children in four cramped houses made of cement blocks and topped with corrugated iron in a village surrounded by coffee fields 50 km (31 miles) north of Kampala.
After her first sets of twins were born, Nabatanzi went to a doctor who told her she had unusually large ovaries. He advised her that birth control like pills might cause health problems.
So the children kept coming.

She must have been ...erm, 'playing hide the sausage'...while she was peeling the spuds.....erm....and when she was washing the dishes......erm.....and even mowing the lawn............someone should have chucked a bucket of water over her and her fella......:D

Oh my, I can't even imagine. I gave birth to one child and was in labor for 20 hours and thought I was going to die from that. I can't even imagine having 44 children and she is 10 years younger then myself.

I imagine where she is from since I never heard of it there is only natural childbirth so she must just pop them right out.

With my daughter I did the entire thing natural which looking back I could knock myself on the head for that. I remember rolling on ball and my husband massaging my back so much.

I wonder if she may be mentally challenged in some way.

I actualy think you may be right RR... she's already stated she never had any schooling, and equally hasn't been able to afford to send her children to school either ..and then there's

[h=3]TRAGIC STORY[/h]Nabatanzi’s desire for a large family has its roots in tragedy.
Three days after she was born, Nabatanzi’s mother abandoned the family: her father, the newborn girl and her five siblings.
“She just left us,” said Nabatanzi sombrely, as some of her ragged children played on the dirt floor while others did chores.
After her father remarried, her stepmother poisoned the five older children with crushed glass mixed in their food. They all died. Nabatanzi escaped because she was visiting a relative, she says.

“I was seven years old then, too young to even understand what death actually meant. I was told by relatives what had happened,” she said.
She grew up wanting to have six children to rebuild her shattered family.
