Would you describe yourself as a cheerful person?

I wake up cheerful and happy. I was always a happy person.
Until the last 5 or 6 years. Now, I wake up cheerful and happy and then about 6 hours into the day, I notice my cynicism showing itself. Or, I'll explode with impatience at an extremely annoying coworker. People are becoming an annoyance! I am officially old. :p
i feel best in the morning too. but i cant afford to risk losing my job by expressing impatience there.

I'm not sure what a cheerful person is but I think most people have many moods, myself included. When I greet people I am generally cheerful, when something bad happens I get sad, when something happens that annoys me I get annoyed. So, I am cheerful at times but have many moods. I love to laugh and make others laugh, too, don't know if that is cheerful or funny!:p

Normally very cheerful, life is too short not to be. Usually "up" most all the times. Try to cultivate attitude of "helpful happiness." The way to do that is to watch your negative thoughts. Thoughts are "things".

I am too aware of the enormous failings of our own species to be a cheerful guy, anymore. I try to stay happy, in general, but the world, as it is today, makes that a real challenge.

We can think about the world as it was a couple generations ago and say the same thing. Today, we happen to be on the receiving end of knowing in an instant what is actually transpiring across the globe. That is the challenge, how to filter the overload of information to stay positive, isn't it? You certainly don't help yourself or anyone around you by adding to the "failings".

Think we need more pure laughter and "fun" today...that can act as a counterbalance to the despair. Like leavening makes a cake rise to the occasion. Enjoy!

I don't believe the world is the same as it was a few generations ago. That's nonsense. Yeah, I understand you were saying the same thing could have been said, a while back. Thing is, it's quantifiably worse, now: Pollution has gotten so much worse, more horrible crimes are being committed, courtesy of our bloated population, Rat Cage effect, the cost of living has gotten to the point where the Middle Class is being squeezed out of existence, etc., etc.

Seroisly, summer_sky, If you feel there have been recent mood changes in your life, have you consulted a physician. ( not some GP) Mood changes may be due to bodily chemical changes. They could be due to unresolved depression.

No, never been a cheerful person. Even as a young child I've been too serious minded. Plus I am too much of an introvert. That doesn't go with being cheerfully bubbly. Forcing oneself to be something you're not, can only make one frustrated with oneself. I can say, though, that I am reasonably happy. I can't really ask for more.

I am cheerful most of the time, although sometimes I feel overwhelmed by the stressors in my life. Fortunately, I have excellent coping skills, fabulous people in my life, and a well developed sense of the absurd. Gardening, cats, writing poetry, meditation, these help me maintain my inner balance.

I can relate minus, ‘I have excellent coping skills’🥺lol

I’ve got some fabulous people in my life and also have developed a sense of the strange and unusual. Yeah. Kinda appreciate the absurd more than the average person. Normal seems so over rated and somewhat boring.

Walking my dogs, yoga , singing, playing saxophone, painting, gardening and woodworking are some activities that help keep me content and grounded.

Sometimes you have to let go of things that are too stressful to maintain that core of peacefulness and know that you deserve it. Everyone does. ❤️[/QUOTE]
