The surgery went very well. Have at least 6-8 weeks recovery using a CPM machine every night and 3 times a day along with exercises. The CPM needs to get up to 120 and I am currently at 106. Doing very well attaining the desired bend in my knee along with strength and balance. I am walking taller and not bending over the walker so much. Used to, when I got out of bed of standing up, there was such a pain surge that would hit my knee! I would wait until that passed to walk. Now that is not so bad.

Good to hear ............ CPM machine ?

Wonderful! I've heard knee replacements are very painful. Here's wishing you heal nicely.

I had both hips done recently, so I have a pretty good idea how it feels. (kinda/sorta) Keep up the good work! It's awesome when you start feeling better.

Hi,glad the surgery went well, the pain will subside as you get stronger
In my experience,I got out of bed the day after surgery,3 days later discharged from the hospital.
I was at rehab for a week, where I was shown how to dress myself by using a gripper. I bought one of those, yrs later I use it to pick up paper&other things I've thrown&missed into the waste paper basket.
I have a cane which I used for couple weeks after my surgery. I now use it to open my bedroom curtains

Excellent news, !! How long did you stay in hospital before they allowed you home?
HollyDolly, it was a shock! I went in about 4 the afternoon of the surgery and if I could do 4 things on my own without help, I could go home. I did and went home 25 hours after the surgery. I went home the next afternoon! I went to the bathroom, ate without throwing up, and a couple of other things. My dogs were boarded for 4 days and nights so they were out of the way also.

I have rehab for 6 weeks, go to see the doctor Tuesday, and am using a CPM machine which moves my knee for me for 6-8 hours a day. About 1 1/2 hours at a time. I do exercises, walk, do the leg hang to get it to straighten out. Thank you for the encouraging input.
