It's an overly sensitive person who "melts"(has a meltdown) when faced with criticism, opposing views etc. There's generally not a formulated response to opposing views, nor even a desire for meaningful debate ...a "you think differently than me so you're a bad person" sort of emoting. If a snowflake is in college in the US, they can retreat to Cry Rooms or Safe Spaces on some campuses to do their melting.
It never gets old, Sunny. The point is well made. Most generations bitch and moan about the upcoming ones. Wahhh.... (talk about snowflakes!)Much as I don't want to bore everyone to death by repeating this song yet again, I really feel I have to!
Yes, dear. I must remember from now on to be more gentle with your delicate feelings! However , it would seem from some of the answers on here it's just not the young who are snowflakes...![]()

This thread brings up a good point. Do you really think there are more people out there with these types of traits...forget the age or ethnic differences...traits like "getting offended at the drop of a hat, touchy, touchy, touchy, walk on eggs around them, self entitled, etc.".
Do you think this is an increasing bell curve or what - there are a lot more people in the world now.
The kids didn't give themselves a participation trophy. We did, our generation gave it to them. As long as there is a winning trophy as well, what's wrong with a small participation trophy? If there is no winner declared, then Yes, I would object.
Woody Allen Quotes
Eighty percent of success is showing up
Shallow occupation? Writing, acting, directing, being a job source for thousands of people is shallow? Entertaining people is shallow? You don't have to care for this one person, but why degrade an entire industry?
Besides, showing up is important. I had remembered the quote, not the one who made it. We all may not be great successes, but all successes need support staff.
I think this thread explains what I said about the designation of "snowflakes" having become about politics. I have had it thrown at me, and I'm no millennial. I just wanted to get that in, having been so summarily dismissed. But I do understand about no politics here at SF, so I will go no further.
I don't see that anyone summarily dismissed you. The term is often used politically. But it has a broader social application than politics alone.
